When his father's second child is born he notices a complete shift in the old stallions attitude. Merlinus finds himself thrown into more intense training and begins to lose sight of his own dreams...
It isn't until he eavesdrops on his step-mother that he realizes his father is trying to avoid Mercy aspiring to become a fighter by providing his son as the perfect candidate to dash the little fillies dream.
(Mercy ends up training as a healer to try and help her big brother out. Guess it backfired!)
