Back in January my wife and I visited a retrospective of Vogue photos from the first years of Vogue and this reminds me a lot of the high-end black and work on display there. Sadly I can't tell you now who it is that I'm thinking of as the photographer but there was specifically a shot of a Male Romantic lead set against a clap-board fence that has many of the same qualities of this shot.
Point is, great work once again.
