Description
This is hands down the best dream I ever had, Bayonetta is my definitive, favorite game of all time, I have been playing it since day one and I'm always learning something new about the game and nothing will ever supplant it from that spot, so I had a dream last night of Bayonetta 3 or at the very least my Bayonetta 3. Everything was so clear and I was given numerous details about it, let me also state that 2 other dreams were going on as well but the Bayonetta one is what stuck out the most.
In the distant future the world is weening itself of magic and the beings of light and dark are slowly fading away, filled with regret and anguish over their ceasing of existence, angels and demons agree to complete one task before they disappear forever and that is to kill the witch who had been slaughtering their kind for years. A visibly older Bayonetta has become a special elite agent for the military, she joined the military as sort of a way to rekindle some form of community like she had when she was with the Umbra, Madama Butterfly is also dying which has effected Bayo and her magic, she can no longer channel magic through her heel guns, can barely form a wicked weave, the infernal demons have long abandoned her and now want to kill her. Rodin is the only one left who is and will always be there for her, as his magnum opus he creates a pair of desert eagle styled handcannons that are designed after Bayonetta and Jeanne called "The Umbran Sisters", in exchange for her magic draining, her weapons and fighting prowess have gotten way stronger, she's more brutal and her weapons more lethal. Bayonetta is also found carrying a child with no father.
The angels and demons can no longer physically access purgatorio, so instead they now possess earthly matter, the angels possessing organic life and the demons possessing objects and structures such as vehicles, buildings etc (didn't draw out a demon) in one instance a Beloved possesses a grizzly bear shredding it's skin and expanding its muscles and using a tree as an axe.
Final act of the game would have Bayonetta face the two most powerful entites in heaven and hell, with Bayonetta, for one last time, dawning her Bayo 1 outfit with accents of white throughout the costume (in reference to her white hair and Queen Shiba showing how powerful she has become), expelling all magic from her afterwards and when the dust settles and heaven and hell are no more, Bayonetta is free to raise her child and finish living her life fulfilled knowing her offspring won't have to live in a world of monsters and magic.
So yeah, that's about it, concept definitely needs expanding on and more elaboration, specifically on what happened to Jeanne. How Bayonetta got pregnant, etc etc. And this seems like a huge departure from what the series is but I kind of love it for how different it is, because let's be honest Bayonetta does not have strong narrative structure and something like this that matures the setting can be divisive but I for one welcome it, I don't wanna see these characters doing the same shit again, that's why I don't like 2 as much. While I get that because this is fan work it gets a pass, imagine if this was an official thing that was going to happen, I can see people bitching and bitching hard, claims of "she's not sexy" or "this ruins the character" which are valid points, Bayonetta is the only character to use sex appeal right. Where as Samus has a lot of depth to her but none of the games are interested in delving into that and when they finally did people hated it. Lara Croft's sex appeal is largely surface level and irrelevant to who she is as a character, it's something that simply is and nothing else, while there is nothing wrong with that, seriously wanting a sexy character because you just want to is completely fine, even if it's done good or bad, I can see why they dropped it for the Tomb Raider reboots. And Rouge the Bat is just eye candy that doesn't need to exist in the Sonic universe.
It's all a matter of doing this one story in a way that is not only faithful to the world and characters already established but if it offers a satisfying story then I would be all for it, never in a million years would I have thought "yeah let's turn Bayonetta into a hardened veteran who wages war with Heaven and Hell for the sake of her unborn child" but I'm down for it now that I've drawn it out, there's potential here in something amazing and subversive but alas, it is all a dream...
I did more sketches along with this one you can see over on my patreon.
