Description And more...

Bob Benton is the Black Terror, who appeared in Exciting Comics and America's Best Comics from Better Publications. He's a pharacist that invents the 'formic ethers' formula that gives him superpowers and one of the coolest costumes ever.

Alan Lanier is the Hunchback, appearing in Wow Comics from Fawcett. Now, I drew this up before I came across any reference for the character. He's a crime hating playboy who dresses up like a hideous hunchback to become a killer vigilante. The pic I found afterward had him in superhero tights with a hump. I like this one better.

I thought he was really neat. I thought he would look kinda like the Spider with a big hump. But who would believe he was a rich playboy? Great disguise.

This is awesome! I'm really loving the Black Terror.

So i was at a used book store the other day, right after we had been talking about golden age characters like Terror and what do i find? A book dedicated solely to golden age comics with loads of awesome covers in it and cool stuff about the characters that appear on them. It has some sweet Black Terror and Daredevil covers.

It's called Comic Book Culture: an illustrated history. You should definitely check it out.

I don't know if you have any of the Black Terror comics, but you can go to Wowio.com and download a bunch of them for free. He appeared in Exciting Comics and America's Best Comics. I'll check that book out. Thanks for the tip.

Dang it...now i'm never going to get any work done! Thanks for the link!

Man, that would be pretty awesome to own some original Black Terror books...

I bet you can find 'em at any con, but they'll cost you. Wowio has a bunch of Golden Age comics. I dig the science fiction and horror anthologies. I'm still not sold on the webcomic format. I can't believe that's the future of the industry.

Yeah, they'll definitely cost ya. I think webcomics is another creative outlet, but i definitely hope it's not the future of the industry. Nothing it better than holding the art in your hands.

Word. Not to mention what it'll do to retailers and the collection market.

Did you know about 'The Twelve'?

Alex Ross' next project brining back a bunch of characters from the past ( I believe all from the same company, tho, I'm not sure)
One of them is Black Terror, and his redesign of him is pretty wicked. I think Green Lama is in there too.

BUt, I'm pretty sure you already know this

And that Black Terror is awesome! Nice work.

I haven't read much about The Twelve except that it a superhero murder mystery involving a bunch of resurrected Golden Age heroes. Alex Ross' Superpowers is using Black Terror, Green Lama, Daredevil, The Flame and some others. That looks fun. I agree, the Black Terror redesign is pretty sweet. I'll check out the trades.
