You are wrong. We don't kill people to show that it's wrong, but to let everyone know murder won't go unpunished. This is because when a civillian kills another it causes fear and uncertainty in the rest of society. While on the other hand, death penalty recovers this lost order.

A sacrifiece must be made so others can see. Its the fastest way but not the most effective. For we must realize that it hurts the person you kille less than the people who knew that person.

I think it's frustration, Β mostly.

Or to try force empathy. "See how bad it felt when I killed your mom? How do you think your victims felt?"

Of course, I think most killing of killers is done not to show that that it's wrong but mostly just to ensure they can't kill any more.

There are good reasons. If those aren't good reasons, then I'm a bad person. Because if someone were to try to hurt my family, I wouldn't hesitate at all to kill them. If someone tried to kill me, I'd kill them, if in my power. If things like protecting your family, and yourself aren't good reasons, then I no longer understand this world.

No, I meant the myth. The 'eat people, and become a monster' one. I meant it was good reinforcement because, well, it's a 'if you eat another person, you just screwed yourself' kind of thing. Personally, I think that even starvation doesn't justify it.Β

The destruction of another human being... its loss is unequal. Not only did you kill something that has friends and is alive, but you've also killed every thought, or action that would have ever come from that person. What would they've done had they not died? Many people seek retribution for the loss of their murdered loved ones, and a life for a life IS an even trade. Afterall, the murder didn't have much regard for his victim's life, its only fair that his punishment reflect the disregard society has for such scum... just make sure its the right bloody person before you pull the switch.

Cimmeris [2013-03-22 18:54:54 +0000 UTC]

We don't, its not about showing people that its wrong. Most people know that. Its about removing a dangerous individual from the general populace before he can commit a similar actions. Now, this isn't necessary in every case maybe, maybe the jail time is punishment enough to prevent the behavior repeating and, then again, maybe not, but for some individuals death is the only sure way.

*eyeroll* you dont live life with phrases like these. This isn't wisdom, get a grip. Someone who has killed an innocence person in coldblood does not deserve an inch of life and we do not need to use up prison space and waste money and food on them, and it sets an example besides. There are starving children in 3rd world countries and these prison inmates get to watch tv and eat and have a warm place to stay..wtf..! honestly if someone with a horrible enough crime was getting away without punishment i would off them myself no worries, no qualms of concience.

OfficerTroll [2011-12-23 14:26:51 +0000 UTC]

To be honest someone needs to put a stop to it. here is why. Lets say you have 2 beautiful kids. and a spouse. You see your neighbor get arrested and later you are told he murdered 30 people. And you are told that 1 of those 30 people was someone you loved and cared about deeply. This person you loved and cared about was a straight a student never got in trouble and always did the "right" thing. Never did any drugs and was a role model to you. And he was released on bail yesterday and back in his home. Would you be able to do nothing knowing that man/woman who killed not only 30 people but someone super close to you? Would you be satisfied paying taxes to keep him in prison for the rest of his life knowing he won't ever understand how hard it was not only for you, but for everyone else he has hurt? I know i wouldn't. and if you can honestly say you would 100% forgive that person you are lying, as humans we can never fully forgive someone that causes us pain Until justice is served.

I know this. The answer is actually quite simple, and I'm afraid that many people will not like this. The answer is... stupidity. We are stupid. We do what we think is right, but not really was is right. So, we try to do the right thing by taking revenge on the people who killed our precious ones. However, their precious ones will only want revenge against us, so they'll just kill us too. Then, our precious ones will want revenge, and so forth and so forth and so forth. It's a wonder there hasn't been an apocolypse yet, but it seems that we know how to survive. We're similar to cockroaches in a sense, we just seem so pathetic, but you just can't kill us, even when we're killing each other. Anyways, if you try to kill someone in an act of righteousness, you'll only scar everyone around you, including yourself. You can't escape your past. It'll haunt you forever and ever and ever. There's just no end to it, so why fight it? Isn't it much more convenient to sit back and watch. Who knows? Maybe after so many people start to just sit back and watch, others will do the same thing, until there will be no more conflict at all. Of course, that is extremely unlikely, so now we're back to people killing our precious ones. Shall I call this the cycle of hate? Yes, that makes much sense. Very well, the answer to your question is because of the cyle of hate, there will always be people who kill people to show people that killing is wrong.
