Description
First let me say this was definitely one of the hardest contests I've had to judge. There were so many great entries and every judges picks were wildly different.The way judging is done. Judges give me their top 10 picks. With each image getting a number of points corresponding to order ie: 1 = 10pts, 2 = 9pts 3 = 8pts and so on. The votes are then all tallied up and the winners are the entries with the most points.
There were many that were picked that didn't end up with enough points.
A sincere thank you to everyone who entered I wish I could give prizes to all of you.

That is a good post, many important points were made. Still, there are differences in your case. You didn't have to enter this contest, you knew you only had a chance at winning, no cash reward was guaranteed. I think before reading what was in that link I had an idea of what "recognition" turns out to be in reality for artists like yourself, I was only trying to be nice and show my support as a fan when I commented here.

Honestly, I don't need to tell you anything stranger, especially when I don't see the point in dragging out this conversation. I'll play along, though. For one you don't need to be an artist yourself to know their tendencies, what they're like or likely to do. Artists who share their experiences with their fans and other artists on the internet leave plenty of information in their journals, blogs or whatever media there might be out there for people like me to look over to gain "inside" knowledge. Just from reading that post in the link I can learn a lot about the problems they face, it's not very hard.
Just because I may not be an artist myself (not yet anyways) doesn't suddenly mean my opinion is invalid. If you have nothing good to say from this point on don't bother replying, I don't care much for rude remarks.

It means you've never had the 20+ years of experience of dealing with people constantly trying to undermine and cheat what's taken you a life time to learn.
If you knew like you said you do, you would have know that most artist groan at the word 'recognition'.
I'm not upset that I lost and you seem to think that has something to do with the competition. I'm upset at you using a word that propagates the abuse of other artist.
Your comment was insensitive to artist trying to survive and make money. You ENCOURAGE 'recognition' and that is Faux pas.

In the future DON'T use the word 'recognition'.

I'm not speaking ill of Scratch, but none of that traffic even made a third of its way to my page. So while it got views in the contest I got no 'recognition'
Nor has it increased or improved my commission rates. So my only hope of making anything back was to place which I didn't. I took a risk for my time and it didn't pay off and I can live with that.
I won't have you spreading lies about recognition.

I thank everyone for their participation. I know I haven't commented on any illustrations because I do not want to show any sort of favoritism but there are some amazing entries and I really wish I could give prizes to every contestant.
