*Shivers* No....... My neither!! I find it worrying all the ways that your body can betray you!! When we lost my dad, it was very sudden and traumatic.....For us, dad didn't know anything about it......Guess I'm glad about that......

Not to be awful or anything, but he was lucky that way. My mom just slowly, awfully deteriorated.

No--she held on for ten years. She had colon cancer, they did surgery, then chemo, found cancer in her liver, did more chemo, did surgery to remove THAT. After that, it traveled fast, metastasizing into her spine. She got sick a lot. By the time she died, she didn't know anyone and was in a lot of pain. I wasn't there when she died--I'd been on vacation with my kids. I miss her of course, but I had a good relationship with her when she went so--I'm a bit glad I didn't see her at her worst--it isn't how I want to remember her.

I am so sorry love......It must have been hard on both of you? At least my dad didn't suffer...... That's something I haven't had to deal with........Sorry if I sound selfish, I hope I never do......My brother-in-law's father went in the same kind of way. I'm sure you remember her as the vibrant person she was?

I do remember her that way. When she was diagnosed, I was there for her first chemo, and then kept my dad company while he waited (I took him out) and was there for the rest of the week to help. I traveled back for her first surgery and we spent every leave visiting--we brought her both babies when they were born. But It was much harder for my father--he of course lived with her, and my sister was there too. Every so often I feel like I didn't do enough because the military kept me geographically separated, but I'd made my peace with her and tried to be someone she could be proud of in the long run.

I'm sure she was proud of you!! You served your country, no one can give more that that!! You were there as much as you could be and she saw your children, you made the effort to be there.
Guess its the 'I should have done more' guilt feeling?? It gets me too........But both of did all we could, the logic bit of me knows that but that bloody guilt thing will always haunt the both of us?? I guess i shows how deeply we cared?? Sorry for being a little negative about this, I try to be positive but sometimes its hard?? Send you all love and hugs for this one!!

I DO get a little guilty sometimes, and then she kicks my ass for it--and she kicks my ass for bad mouthing her too--I get that smack upside the back of my head. But I think your dad and my mom probably felt the way we might some day, when our end comes and we know we'd want people to be HAPPY and live (even the ones who were assholes) cause our life was our life and from the sound of it, you've lived your life as well as I have and regret and guilt serves well only if served briefly.

I guess its also a measure of how much we miss them as well?? I guess we never know how many others we touch in our lives, some will never remember us, other will remember us for the rest of their lives?? And the friends we meet??

Minus me and cause we were 12 miles away trying to get a hot dog, and when that flopped, we was stuck in traffic. LOL But we all made it to the party anyway, and had the best time.
