Description Looky what I have been working on, muahahah! So I've been seeing huge plushies on DA, so I was thinking, "I wonder if I could pull that off?" Welp, I'd say I can!

Bendy stands a modest 3 feet tall and is pictured with a guitar for scale. I actually made him inside out. I suck at patterning and traditional plush-making, so I wanted to try a different approach. I first made a wooden armature, glued a bunch of foam and cotton batting to the armature to give it shape and structure, and then patterned around that. Bendo here took about 185 hours to complete, which doesn't sound like a lot, but I also have a full time job. So I worked on him when I could. Total cost of materials was roughly $330, so it wasn't too bad.

The armature was an...interesting adventure. I didn't think thick wire would hold him up well and I wanted maximum posability, so I experimented and made my own complex armature out of wood, hardware, and bike chain. There were pros and cons with the armature above when Bendy was fully completed, so I intend to revise that armature and make ANOTHER Bendy next year with the improvements. But for what it is, this giant plushie does have decent posability as you can see in the pics above. What's also nice is that his head can rotate from side to side and even tilt as if he was curious. That's a neat feature of the frame underneath. And despite that bulky armature, Bendy is nice to hug.

Bendy was made with Shannon minky fabric (it's SOOO SOFT!), EVA foam, fleece, wood, hot glue, and several other materials. He has interchangeable expressions, as you can see from the collage above. I definitely learned A LOT from such an extensive project, but I intend to make more characters like this using the inside-out method, but smaller. I guess he's really a giant art doll instead of a plushie but meh. Whatevs. Plushie, art doll...it's the same thing to me!

This is so cool! I've never seen a posable doll like this before! He definitely looks like he'd be huggable despite the frame inside.

Thanks! It was a lot of work, but was fun to make!
