I always wished and dreamed the Koopalings becoming playable characters, and they found the best game to be in that position, but without Bowser Jr. it all feel like a Pizza without cheese... I am damn serious.
I really have no damn idea why they would just leave Bowser Jr. out but add in an asswipe-metal copy of Peach in there. (I like Peach a lot, but who the hell wanted ANOTHER damn metal clone?!)

i must say your shading on junior is phenomenal Β
the lighting really creates the mood for the picture while still being realistic to a fire lit castle, the darkness in general is just eye capturing
even from a back view you can see juniors sad longing expression; excellent use of perspective
overΒ all, all these techniquesΒ just demonstrate the perfect mood for this picture

The thing is Mario Kart is one of my favorite games ever. I love Bowser Jr.... I cried when I found out he's not in the game....
It won't be another Mario Kart for another 5 years or more. I didn't buy Mario Kart 7 because it didn't have Junior.
