Description: The Australian trunk boar is a medium-sized descendent of the feral hogs that lived in Australia 50 million years ago. Like many of the placental mammals that live on the Australian subcontinent, they were introduced by humans. The boars were able to breed rapidly because they had no predators to keep their population stable. They have integrated into the environment and aren’t invasive now.
The Australian trunk boar is light-brown in color with a dark brown tail. The dark trunk on the front of the face is used to both search for food and pick up objects. Its fur is double-coated which allows it to warm up and cool off. This fur is needed because it lives in the cold mountain regions but also in the hot grasslands. The hooves of the pig are adapted to be able to climb on the rocks of its environment.
These pigs are well-adapt for their environment but they are also extremely intelligent compared to most of the animals on the Australian subcontinent. These boars have special calls for certain purposes and they have a great memory. A single boar can remember where a watering hole is for its entire lifespan. This makes it one of the smartest animals on the Great Australian Plain, alongside the saber-toothed dingo.

P.S. This is the last animal that lives in the Great Australian Plain that I'm drawing. The next few drawings will be for animals that live in the South Indian Grassland.
