Description: The brown macoon is a species of macaque that has evolved into a similar niche as a baboon of the African Savannah. The descendent species of this monkey was the Rhesus macaque, an Old World monkey that was very adaptable. The drier environment allowed the macaques to evolve adaptations similar to the baboons that lived 40 million years ago.
The brown macoon is light-brown in color which allows it to blend into the environment. The brain of this monkey is quite bigger than most animals for its body size and it also has more waves in it, making them smarter. The teeth are adapted for the monkey’s omnivorous diet, although the canines are long which allows them to easily tear meat. The hands of the monkey are used to grasp onto things, like food, tree branches, and other things. It also uses its hand to pick up sticks and use them as tools like the apes that lived 50 million years ago.
The most interesting behavior of the macoons is that they will hunt animals if other food sources are scarce. While hunting, the macoons will surround the prey animal and begin attacking it, usually with their hands or rocks. Depending on the prey animal's size, it will usually take 10 to 20 minutes to kill the animal. The macoons pass around the meat so all of the monkeys can get a part of the meal. Most of the time, the macoon targets smaller grazing animals like baby jackalopes, wildryaxes, and other small herbivores.
