Description
My character Touya, who can be seen quite frequently around my gallery. I always said he had a tattoo on his back so I finally got around to drawing him with his tattoo.The koi is a symbol of courage and the kanji characters further emphasize this concept.
Reference used for the pose.
From scratch in Painter 8, color adjustments and layout in Photoshop 7.

Awesome pose, and the colours are incredibly nice!
The tatoo itself looks really cool, but it's the wonderful skin and the almost shy pose that really does it for me. Might end up using this as a pose reference for a piece I'm planning!

This is beautiful...I just finished a figure drawing class, so I am now enamoured of drawing the human body, and this is a gorgeous piece of work. Putting the subjact against a stark white background also makes it fele a lot like a photograph. The pose is great for form and to show off the tatto, the colors and the shading are well down. Very nice.

i don't think i knew touya had a fish tattoo. i suck. the shading and anatomy are really wonderful. and the fish tattoo looks like it's actually across his back, conforming to it, not just like, floating there. really great.
