My half of a trade with Cassandra/Scarlett Algee/~ospryn , of her character Merare Okimbe.When I read the description of Merare, and looked at the reference pictures, I was happy to come up with some racy clothes for her, but I wanted to have it be feminine at the same time. I'm always on this Moulin Rouge kick, so I went with that, and her hair reminded me of the incredibly fantastic locks that Christina Aguilera sported in the Lady Marmalade video.
I had the sketch laying around for a long time, and finally inked it. It took me three days to color in Photoshop... but I'm reasonably pleased with the outcome.

I'm impressed by the floor- the perspective rocks my socks. I love the hair as well, but I'm not understanding the soft outlines to 95% of it and the dark lines around the chunk of hair framing the face.
But all in all thisis pretty bad ass.

Yeah, looking at it now, the hard detail on the hair near the face does look a little out of place. I know I had intended the darker outline to make those sections of hair 'pop forward', but I may not have seen the technique all the way through when I was working on it, because the strand detail doesn't match :/

I love this picture... the BG really adds to this pic. And it reminds of the movie, too. I like her compactness. The coloring is beautiful, and I especially like the coloring on the beak, and pretty eyeshadow. great stuff. ^^

Thanks! I'm really proud of the background... it's simple, but it helps the feel so much, and I've been pushing myself to get more 'finished' works done.

Im extremely impessed with how your curtains came out... I actually wanted to do some that looked similar, but I didnt have any ref. pics (or patience @.@) so I abandoned all hope...

Actually... despite being steamrolled by hormones on my first pass of this peice, I was able to slap myself and look at it objectively.

And aside from lavishing praise on you for an insane coloring job, I wanted to point out one other thing:
Gold lace ribbons. Accents the boots so damn well. As does the texture of the ribbon. Fantastic. ^^

Agreed, the curves of her hips are fine. Mrraow. But I particularly like her hair, how you've given it several layers and how it adds to the depth of the picture... lovely. Oh, and QWEE! Sparkly things! XD

LOL I read that and was like "But it was only maybe three layers..." Until I realized you were talking about layers of hair, and not photoshop layers
I had left the hair to very last... it's always so intimidating when I want it to look good and I'm wary of messing it up. Thank goodness for undo and deleting layers. This was perhaps the third go at the hair that came out okay!
