I often referred to this version of Batman as: "What If Frank Castle/The Punisher were Batman"
(..until Dark Knight Metal, when they made "The Grim Knight", whose even more of a Punisher than Thomas Wayne is.)
In retrospect, it makes some kinda sense that Bruce's father would be a more ruthless Batman.
Bruce was raised by the idealistic Alfred, so he got his moral code from him.
AND, while it is traumatizing for a child to watch his parents gunned down in an alley,
it is decidedly worse for a parent to not only watch his eight year old son shot dead, but his spouse to go mad as well.
THAT being said, the Flashpoint Paradox film really made Thomas Wayne's Batman just as cool.
as given his prior occupation was a Doctor, you can buy that who knows just how to take someone down.
He knows ever weak point in the human body (so, like his son, he know show to break bones like sticks.)

Heh, I can see what you mean.
(I think that was the point. Scott Snyder did describe him as "The Punisher with billions of dollars)
Exactly. Thomas was already an adult and such.
Oh I really agree. Thomas had it much worse then Bruce...
Ha ha, totally agree!

This version of the bat had it arguably worse then his son.

Too bad his wife didn't survive it would be interesting to see Bruce fighting his mother.
