Description As part of their strategy in the so-called "War on Piracy", King Anderson and his police force rank every wanted pirate in order of the urgency and importance of their arrest.  These ranks are constantly fluctuating as different pirates prove themselves more dangerous than others . . . or are captured or killed and thus crossed off the list.  As you may recall, Magnhild currently sits at #12 and Leroi at #5.  But as for #1, that rank has been held by one individual for three years running: the pirate known as "General Larenz".

Relatively unknown until that point, Larenz rose to notoriety when he led his pirate "army" in a calculated attack on the Argonan government, assassinating the emperor and many other key officials.  This led to the Argonan Empire surrendering from the Purithyan-Argonan War, ultimately bringing the war to an end.  At first, the remaining kingdoms of Illupia and the Anderson Kingdom weren't sure whether this made Larenz a terrorist or a hero.  But when Larenz issued a public statement that the remaining rulers would have to be careful if they didn't want to be next, King Anderson saw no choice but to declare Larenz the most wanted criminal in the kingdom.  Despite the combined efforts of the police, the army, bounty hunters, and even other pirates wanting to claim the top spot for themselves, Larenz remains at large.

So, yeah, I'm actually kind of surprised that it took me this long to submit a picture of General Larenz here.  You've probably seen me refer to him in the descriptions of several other pieces in my gallery before.  For some reason, early on in the project I had this idea of Larenz being this mysterious figure and I wouldn't post a picture of him because it would be better if nobody knew what he looked like.  I quickly realised that that didn't actually make much sense because there are wanted posters of him on every island so in fact pretty much everyone should know what he looks like.  But I suppose I just got into the habit of not drawing him and thus it took me till 2016 to finally submit a picture of him.  To be honest, he's far from being a "main character" in the story itself, but he's important to a lot of the backstories, and his actions have had a dramatic effect on the state of the world in which the story takes place, so he kind of has this constant "presence" even if he's not physically there.  There's a lot more I could go into but this description has gone on long enough.  At least I have this picture to refer people back to whenever I mention him in another description in future.  Onwards, then!

Thanks a bunch!  I want to get around to drawing some more stuff involving this guy sometime!  And ha, I'm glad you noticed the doubloon - in an earlier design he just had a random gold chain, but after figuring out the story's currency system, the doubloon was too fun to resist. =P

Guy seems like he's giving me the "turn around and walk away or I will stab you!" kind of look. Is that normal, or should I see a doctor about my "visual describing of looks" disorder?

Ha ha nope you're fine - that seems pretty accurate for this guy!

Hahahah, so much personality in that pose! His confidence is definitely clear, and sounds like he's got the history to justify it. He looks like he could be played by a younger Kurt Russell in a live action film

Thanks, the pose was pretty fun! . . . And now I must confess that I am absolutely clueless when it comes to actors and had to look up who Kurt Russell was. O_o But Google Image Search brought up a picture of him with an eyepatch and I can kind of see it, hah!

Hahah I don't know, just something about his face felt like Kurt Russell for me, he's been in a few movies I quite like X)

I looked up his filmography and I don't think I've seen any of them except The Fox and the Hound and I'm not sure if that counts, ha.  I am so uncultured.  But apparently he was in something called Captain Ron which ironically is the name of the pirate who was ranked #1 before Larenz.  WHAT CAN THIS MEAN??

LOL that is hilarious XD (Don't worry, I don't know all that many actors by name either, and lately I don't see many movies anymore either |D)

That's a fancy looking throne he's sitting on, but he doesn't look very happy to be there

Thanks!  That chair seemed to take me longer to draw than Larenz himself - he should be more appreciative of the time I spent giving him a fancy seat!  Such an ungrateful character.

Thanks!  I wasn't sure whether to use more of an action pose, but I thought this one suited his character.  I'm glad you like it. =)
