PreviousMade more fan art of these characters... and I have no regrets!! Spent a good two and a half weeks working on this, while having a lot of fun playing with colors. Lewis, Darling, you and your meddling friends killed me.
Other than the animation style being fun and the music catchy, these characters really hit home with their expressive personalities, using no dialogue to do it. I was inspired to carry that into this short comic, because they are quite interesting that way. Lewis' ghost provided a fun challenge since all he has really got are eyes and hair, but Arthur's exaggerated expressions were also a nice change from what I'm used to.
This story takes place sometime after the animated story ended, (which has been done before), so I chose to make them aware of who their antagonist was and sent Arthur, Vivi and Ben to pay their respects to their old friend. I was considering to let Lewis pass on, but after viewing many fan art pictures, it didn't look like anyone would want him to go anyway. Heck, it's more fun if he joins back in the gang!
Changed up the logo a little to suit a comic and I promise the original logo and background of the van are hand painted.
It's really hard to head-bob to Ghost and draw at the same time, thank goodness the song has breaks.

I'd like to share what I think the backstory is with the Mystery Skulls animated characters.
Arthur and Vivi have been friends since Kindergarten and have been quite close. For years, Vivi's favorite show was Scooby-Doo which is where their inspiration to look like the characters came from. Arthur always had a crush on Vivi, but was always too shy since Vivi was not a romantic type of person. They didn't meet Lewis until high school and Lewis was a more confident person than Arthur. Vivi fell in love with him and Arthur didn't want to get on Vivi's bad side by bad mouthing Lewis. After college, the three set up a mystery solving business in which they found Mystery abandoned on the side of a road. After Arthur was was forced to sit in the back of his own van, his love for Vivi allowed a mysterious spirit to possess his body. Then, as seen in the flashback of Ghost, Lewis gets pushed to his death, and Arthur loses an arm. After this, Arthur romantic love for Vivi dies a death as sudden as that of Lewis.
Why didn't you tell me about your confidence problems Arthur?

That's an interesting take on the first story. The second one will only clarify a few more details, but it's pretty open-ended as well. Hope you enjoy it!
Ben said that the story details are hidden in the videos, so there are a ton of folks who have scrutinized the backgrounds and come up with many different ideas.

loved it LOVED IT! Your style is amazing! and I loved the way, you wrapped it up. You truly showed the tension between Lewis and Arthur at first. Making him fist bump with the robotic arm instead - nice touch! (considering what happened between them, I feel that adds a lot more depth)
And I just can't fault that ending!

Thanks so much! I'm glad so many people enjoyed this little comic, it was a personal head-cannon ending for the original, but I think many felt the same distress from the cliffhanger at the end.

You know, I find it hilarious how Lewis' heart enbalm thingy is now on Vivi. The first time I read this comic, I was just thinking "What, is it a part of her body now?" Subsequent comics have proven me wrong, but I think that idea would have been funny. Imagine Vivi trying to take off and put on shirts with that heart in the way.
