Description
This is a test picture. I was practicing shading and some new techniques. Some may not be obvious.I'd like to know how I did and how I could do better. I regret not taking more than one art class ^_^; thought I wouldn't need them lol.

vision: this is going to sound harsh, but the realism in drawing out every hair, does not combine well with the colored sectioning technique used by the show and inherently you in this drawing. its very well done. I think it just doesn't fit, unless the entire drawing is done more realistically. now that I've said that, I have to mention I've always loved how your style of drawing both Octavia and vinyl differed from the show, its unique,
originality: its a profile picture of a character you didn't invent. that's why it gets a four. Your comics original, its is own story with a complex plot line and well developed characters, (I'm beginning to sound like a dauch) I'm I supposed to be critiquing just this artwork or you as an artist? you know you have talent, right? I don't have to tell you that, you want to know what we think you could do better, right? So here's my opinion, besides my usual bit on shipping everyone, lol, sorry, I think the eyes are beautiful on this one, plus there red, you didn't change them, that's good. the blur in them is perfect and stunning. your shading is also nice, I noticed that in the comic too, your choice of lighting is almost always perfect. I'm ganna move on
technique: did you use a tablet for this one? normally it looks like tool parmesan in gimp were used, but this looks like more hand drawn which is nice, more realistic and artistic, and less perfect, but that's a good thing in my opinion shading is well done, even on the hair, which could have been tricky, but you did it nicely. Little subtle details like the shadow in the back of her mouth really help to sell this picture. the backgrounds kinda boreing though.
impact: not sure what that means........impact? ........I love vinyl, and your comic, you should keep it up. anyways hope this was use full without being too rude.

I know it's not the usual style I go with, but that's why I'm practicing it because I wanted to see what else I can do. It's true the hair doesn't really match the other parts which is a part of the drawing I had a hard time with, I wasn't sure how to make it look more realistic.
I didn't really notice the uniqueness, I guess that's something that only another pair of eyes can see 
I understand the originality lol. Well mainly this artwork, but thanks anyway. I liked how the eyes turned out, better than expected, but I did do sort of the same thing to the "To Her #1 Fans" pic. Shading or lighting, whatever you prefer, is still a big thing I got to learn in my opinion. That's really the big thing for me because I can draw, but I've never learned or cared to learn shading before.
Yes I did use a tablet, I've never used Gimp before. I didn't really do much for the background, I was mainly focused on the character.

Thanks for the critique, I'm glad SOMEONE finally gave one. I may update the pic later because I seem to have found ways to tweek it, but I don't know still. I may do another drawing, but of course I got to get on those comic pages lol. I really want to be able to make something a little more realistic or "serious" for future projects and hopefully I will in time, those are still far away.

If you want a quick tip for improvement, add some shadowing around the horn to make it look more roundish, I like your hair and eye style
