Iku... I don't think she gets enough credit for what she is. In fact, I'm pretty sure that most of the touhou fandom would do well to step back and realize "These are not humans we're talking about, these are youkai"I wanted to catch a bit of grace and power in this picture. She is after all, close to the dragons and the heavens alike.
I'm pretty sure if I saw someone swimming through a thunderstorm as it wasn't a great big thing, I'd listen to them, not beat them up. But then, I don't live in Gensokyo.
Of course, this is also an excuse to play with the luminosity layer in Sai... As a tool, it's strange and I'm not sure I did well...Oh well.

Iku is in my top ten favorite Touhou characters and true enough, I don't see a lot of fanart of her around. When I met her in one of those fighting games and read her up, I loved her for having such a calm life and drifts about in the clouds, associated with dragons, electricity, all that cool etc. stuff whatever.

I'm pretty sure that Iku is the most metal of all Touhou characters, due to not only being associated with dragons, but also lightning and stormclouds. You'd think that there'd be more art of her rocking out on a mountaintop or something, guitar in hand and lightning behind her...

Couldn't agree more. Instead, she's more seen with that Satuday Night pose thingy It's a bit overused sometimes and it kills me a little inside. She should be seen more godly-like
But anyway, you have inspired me to contribute more to this badass image of Iku
Because I feel that characters like these are overshadowed by strange interpretations; like Youmu being a shy little girl when she's actually straightforward

Awesome. Honestly, most of what I'm interested in is depicting the touhou characters as they actually are in-game. I mean sure, a little joking is fun and all, but when you literally cannot find a single picture of characters acting canonically something has gone horribly, horribly wrong. Some of my favorite characters (Tenshi, Alice, even Yukari) are ruined by the fanbase boiling them down to one trait. Sure, we only get one or two lines of dialogue, but can't we at least stick to that...?

It's awesome to see someone who's aware that most of the touhou characters are, in fact, monsters. That is the translation from youkai after all, but I may be wrong.

As for the translation of "Youkai" it's basically a catchall for things that are not human or animal. So yeah, monster is most accurate, though they're not good or bad or even necessarily vicious...
I think that's the spirit of touhou. Neither good nor evil but otherworldly.
...Of course, I'm babbling now. Sorry about that, haha.

Indeed it is, considering most of the characters have a 'defeat means friendship' ordeal going on.

Yamame honestly grew on me, but only after she kicked my ass several times. I don't know how many times I've died to that Filled Misama Spell Card. Personally I like Koishi the best (you can tell, can't you?) and Rin and Parsee are charming in their own ways.

Chireiden kids are popular. Koishi(and Satori) has an enormous cult adoring her and you are not getting away, I know. I just left the fandom since my girls are so not mainstream... Yeah, call me a hipster.

I wasn't aware there was a cult following, but then I don't go searching for fanart or fanworks much. As far as I figure, I might as well just draw what I enjoy. There's no fun in fandom if you don't do it like that, you know?
