She was a big filly, especially for such a young mare. Odyssey was a week earlier than expected, which was probably for the best given the difficulties she had birthing. The labor went on for what felt like forever, with lots of reassurances for the maiden mare. Eventually it took a strong pull to help the tiring young mare to evict her reluctant tenant, but finally the foal was born.

Kirra was dark as ink when whet, and even at birth had a huge shoulder and rump as well as long strong looking legs that seemed to go forever. The small white moon on her forehead was the only white on her entire body and was the deciding factor when it came to figuring out a suitable name for her. Luckily she seemed in no hurry to nurse, just as she had with being born, as Odyssey was exhausted and needed a short rest before she was able to stand and investigate her foal.

Luckily other than a tiring birth, both mare and foal were in excellent health. Great care was taken to monitor them given the difficulties had, but after a feed and a sleep both were in much better spirits and had bonded wonderfully. Odyssey was an attentive and protective mother, always keeping an eye on her foal and making sure that no strange horses got too close. Kirra was a bright young thing. Rather laid back and easy going about everything. Her current interests are food, sleep, and playing with the other foals. She doesn't seem super adventurous about leaving her dam, but shes also not shy about anything she has seen so far. We are very excited to see how she matures and develops as she grows older.

"Easy going, curious, powerful. Kirra is a funny young mare, very relaxed about life and easy to deal with once you get to know her. For strangers she can be a bit daunting due to her sheer size and appearance, but once you get close you realise that the power and focus is driven by curiosity and a desire for rewards. She can seem pushy and definitely is a dominant member of the herd when needed, but she tends more towards enforcing peace rather than starting any trouble. She is the mare to stick with when there are pushy or unpredictable horses around as she will happily guard you and knock down aggressors when needed.

Her movement is divine, with smooth and powerful gaits that seem to float over the ground. We think she will do fantastically in dressage, though the jumping talent runs strong in her lineage so she is a possible eventing hopeful."
