Description Wheew!!!   Been a while since I uploaded anything. I kinda missed drawing a little bit. I started this Wonder Woman illustration a month or so ago. Been working on it on and off. Was actually hoping to have gotten it done last week but then I got sick with the flu!!! Yay me

This is now my best drawing YET! I think I always say that but this one is my favourite of my original works (kind of original)...using many MANY references of course. I usually only ever achieve this type of quality with my digital master studies. Although I cheated a bit by using a texture that I found on google for her skirt and putting a transparency over it and drawing over it (had a better effect than if I used a brush for textures). Next cheat is that I have not drawn in a while and I kinda sorta forgot how to do hair. Which is like one of my strong points in my drawings  . Never the less, I stole some hair from a previous drawing I did so that I had a starting point and then drew around it.

With that being said I am really a lazy BUM!   I need to relearn anatomy AGAIN...as well as learn lighting and form (and  have been putting it off for the longest time). I tend to always go for too much detail but... the lighting effects how much detail you should see and sometimes things NEED to be hidden and sometimes things don't need to be so detailed. Her stomach for instance, I had done the lines which showed the definition in her abs but then I accidentally lost the layer with the lines and realised that it looked SOOO much better with just the lighting shaping her abs. Looks way more believable. So I tried really hard to make sure I tried to respect my own lighting. I tried to carry it across the clothing and such but I was not always sure where the lighting was even coming from. I feel like she should have been in more darkness I just was not sure how. Its a weirdly bright but dark scene.

I think of it like those Nvidea RTX comparison videos on youtube where they show a game using it. The initial scene looks detailed enough but when the RTX is enabled, the scene looks more "believable". On my own drawing, her face lighting versus her stomach lighting shows the difference between lighting for lighting sake and when it can be used to shape and show believability...at least in my opinion.

Last thing is...you ever see those artists show gifs of their work. Going from perfect line work to perfect rough to perfect foundational color and all the way up to a completed illustration. With a gif it can be faked but when you see someone doing a sped up video I am always amazed at the skill level and the consistency throughout the video. Just an artist having a clear vision about what they want. My work flow SUCKS!!! It always looks like a person slowly learning how to draw. If I ever showed my initial sketch vs my final illustration, you would think it was me redrawing an image I did when I was a baby   So I thought I would show my own gif. Also with AI these days, I would prefer to show that I actually did the artwork. This is years of effort to finally get to this level...for me. Started here on DA without ever knowing how to draw in colour. So here is my roughs. Enjoy.

(edit) Forgot to mention...the original idea was that I was inspired by this image I saw of

Kristina Vassilieva

I was supposed to draw her and maybe add wonder woman clothing but I could not for the life of me fully  understand her body. So I used it as a reference point and created an inspired by version of wonder woman from this initial image. Hence the crop top version of the outfit.
