I just finished CT Madigan's book on his Simpson Desert crossing and travels in this area - really enjoying this collection!

This was just a small section of the dirt road heading into Birdsville. It's disappointing to see some of the old dirt roads disappearing. Coming into Birdsville from the north (via Boulia and Bedourie) most of the way is now paved. Coming from South Australia or the Territory is still dirt though and I think it will remain so for the foreseeable future thankfully.
