Awww, el paso, I lived there and loved it. Had a small house up north on the outskirts, it was such a perfect place. If you tilted the camera right, you could see Fort Bliss. Where was this picture taken, looks like from a mountain in Mexico?

Now at TN/KY, ehhh preferred the deserts.

It was taken from the little park at the top of Scenic Drive (I think it's called Scenic Drive Overlook, if Google Maps is to be believed). Very much on the US side - that portion is kind of the dividing line between west and central. Scenic is fun as hell to drive late at night in anything remotely sporty; I had so much fun on that road in my old Integra. The Saturn I have now doesn't corner nearly as well.

I can't get into Mexico - no passport.

Funny you responded to this tonight - I hadn't logged into dA in a few months until tonight.

Did you ever eat at Chico's? That, and L&J Cafe (next to Concordia Cemetery) are my first stops coming into town, and my last stops leaving town. I swear I put on 10 pounds every time I visit.

Never, but use to hear it on the radio all the time, "The old place next to the cemetery". But one restaurant I love was Carlos and Mickey's.

I was born and raised in El Paso. I like it, but my sis says we are D.C. People which is a complete lie and (in my opinion) makes you look worst (no ofence people from Washington D.C)

Born and raised there myself, though I moved to the Dallas area in 1997.

There are definitely some things I miss, like the mountains and lack of humidity.

I used to go here with my dad all the time- seeing the star on the mountain. im older now and we dont do that, but i just love seeing downtown El Paso's lights at night

For me it was kind of a family tradition to go see the star from scenic drive just before Christmas with my parents and grandfather.

This was back when they only lit the star for the holidays, though I haven't lived in El Paso since 1997 (I took that photo when I went to visit my dad years and years ago).

Dallas has a jaw-dropping downtown skyline, but nothing beats being able to look down on the city from the mountains - you can't do that in Dallas.

Hah, this photo is pretty old - I took it in 2003. Is that building still Wells Fargo, or has it changed ownership again?

And thanks

Damn, I need to check my comments more often.

No, I moved to the Dallas/Ft Worth area in 1997. I still try to make it back to EP every couple of years though.

El paso doesnt have many skylines (buildings) and it is kinda boring. Especially if you BMX, not to many spots to hit.

El Paso is boring, I will say that. But the desert can be a nice place to live sometimes.

It's been 10 years since I left El Paso, and I still have yet to find anything remotely like Chico's.

For that matter, finding authentic mexican food here (Dallas) is difficult. And finding Chico's? Impossible. I so miss the lard mixed with watered down tomato juice and covered with shredded cheese. Even though I came close to having a heart attack from thinking about how unhealthy that is.

lol.. well, it was taken from up on a mountain. It's a decent sized city - I think it's a little smaller than Austin TX if memory serves correctly.

Don't live there anymore though.

Definitely some great Mexican food. Some of the best places had cockroaches on the floor!

Don't get me wrong, I'd never live there. But I had great times visiting and passing through.

Nice to see someone else from El Paso on here (even tho I haven't lived there since 1997).
