Description Quite often in the throws of making something, I forget all about reality... A beautiful vista surrounds me in my head, and I am trapped in it for quite some time. However, reality still lurks in the background, waiting impatiently.

I'm starving right now.

I personally think the entire composition works incredibly well together. I see the "retro space opera" airship out the gigantic windows as a mirror of the ship the viewer is on, and the soft drink machine makes perfect sense - passengers on a cruise get thirsty and a viewing deck should have some refreshment.

I'd get lost in your personal "realities" too, Sean. They're infinitely more interesting than the "real" world.

In that case, I want you in particular to look closely at something. ...I know you'd be the only one that would pick up on it if you stared at it long enough. xD

The 'clash' mentioned in the above comment was completely intentional... If you look at it long enough, you'll see that what's outside the window represents fantasy, and what's inside represents reality. Reality isn't pretty, is it? But what's beyond reach certainly is. x)

My work doesn't always tell an obvious story... A lot of it is more representational of what goes on in my personal life...

Yes, I can see that and you'll find that's an element stated as true in philosophy too. Even the old adage, "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence," seems to fit that assertion. Even the in art world works of fantasy rarely consider the "ugly" realities that we must assume exist.

Indeed. One of the things I appreciate most is that thoughtfulness in works of art; the consideration of more factors than what you first see.

As for the adage; if only I could hop that fence into my imagination and live there.

...I'd be a very happy person. c:

Heh, your statement reminds me of a drawing of mine ([link] ) entitled, "It's a Strange & Dangerous World, But They Know Me Here."

There seems to be a kind of clash of aesthetics here; outside the window seems to be something from a retro space opera, whilst the inside looks more like a modern/futuristic setting.

I like it very much anyway, although the vending machine kind of takes away from the composition.
