Description Sure, I coulda titled this piece by their individual names, but where's the fun in messing with people's heads with that?

Duilliath, Nanaea and Æiristus. (Study in Dark Elf skin tones)

Dark elves, yes. Drow, no they are not. They are Veilen. Æiristus became a target for political assassination via Duilliath's "Brotherhood". Then again, almost immediately after accepting the "sanction" - when he learned about the female's background, by Duilliath's own hand... until Nanaea found out about it and turned the situation around. Æiristus has a complicated story of her own. Thus, strength is added to House Æfréhatan.

It should probably also be noted that Duilliath is not the only one with an "additional" spouse - part of Æiri's "complications".

I dislike, even if you said they were no Drows. You give them a drowish style. A drow woman with two husbands, no problem. A drow male with two wives? Unbelievable, sorry. Maybe for studies of this kind user other races? And it's not, as if you posted it in five Drow Groups, sorry, no excuses.

I dislike this guy with great intensity. The reason should be obvious.

Can't please everyone, nor did I ever intend to - too exhausting. I appreciate the visit though. Thanks for sharing.

You really make your art aestetically pleasing - an eye for bringing the picture together in addition to the talent and time behind it. I like how even though you can tell they are all dark elves, each skin tone, eye color, and physical makeup is unique. It shows without words that they each likely have their own benefits to a relationship together. Kudos! Just had to say that. You details as always are amazing. I do think it makes a huge difference when 3d artists write thier own skins. Keep up the awesome work!

Thanks much, FantasyBri. Always appreciated. I haven't been able to put any artwork out for quite a while due to the mother board dying that led to a months-long miserable experience with Windows 8 on a new PC. I won't go into the details but I ended up buying a full version of Windows 7 for stability, Win8 kept crashing, returning to factory settings and destroying my work.

Yeah, you are better off using "Dark Elf", Wizards of the Coast think they own everything, they don't.

Well done, these are good looking dark elves, I will have to catch up on their story. He is big for the usual idea of dark elven & he has a good strong face.

The girls look good too, very nice!

Thanks! Glad you like them, it, they... hehe

WotC does seem to think that with an unreasonable voraciousness, hence the deviation to "dark elf" and "Veilen" (the wife's creation). These characters are for her stories she eventually wants to publish. Duilliath himself is actually 1/2 Veilen (mother's side) and 1/2 "Shadewe" (a secondary dark elf race story invention of the wife). The Shadewe are considerably taller and more dense in muscle and skeletal mass than the subterranean Veilen or the typical surface-world Sylvan (faie). Neither the Veilen nor the Shadewe are the standard bitter, villainous "drow" that TSR/WotC (bought buy Hasbro, I think) copyrighted the D&D description of, although they do have their bad guys.

You can copyright exact descriptions, but they won't permit single words to be copyrighted. Could you imagine the conflict that would cause? (i.e. Hey, I'm copyrighting the word "I" and every time you want to use it -in every medium possible including speaking- you have to get my permission and pay me!) If I recall correctly any trademark or registered trademark must also be registered with a specific description of a product name, title, slogan, symbol or image, even common phrases in use with conjunction of the product idea. Effectively, the McDonald's(R), "i'm lovin' it" international branding campaign in lower case AND in combination with their golden arches "M" logo distinguishes it as different from Justin Timberlake's song "I'm Loving It". Therefore, the concept of drow being "Black-skinned white-haired evil elves that live underground and have a matriarchal society that worship a spider goddess", belongs to WotC as their Intellectual Property. Add to that the "Open Gaming License" in action out there and we have lots of fun with legalese.

WWW.USPTO.GOV is useful for looking up trademarks and other ownership of intellectual property information.
