just curious... why doesn't the ranger have... well, a ranged weapon?

see, i figured the scout would be more of the melee kind... or a mix of both a sniper and melee.

Traditionally a scout is a light armored character with short fast weapons, he is normally very vulnerable to attacks but has added bonus' like fast movement and superior stamina.
Where as a Ranger can be a few things depending on how you interpret it, some interpretations are a ranger as in a person who patrols a certain area or perhaps a ranger as in someone specialized in the art of ranged attacks, or maybe even something similar to a naturalist... it's a very dynamic class in my opinion and there can be many forms of 'rangers'.

Why would he? Ranger doesn't mean archer.
He's more of a wilderness stalker kind of character.

well, i mean the basis of the name "Ranger" is one who is well adept to ranged fighting. Archers and Rangers were pretty much the same thing. AWESOME concepts tho, don't get me wrong, it's just that if i were playing/watching this, that's just something that would make me pause and think about.
