Mwlil is the second born son of Surajah and Jalia, and Hazina's stepson. He is the brother of Kuongoza and Kivita, and the half brother of Askara and Kila.

Mwlil was the prince of the Sunlands. After the arrival of a small pride of rogue lionesses, he gets suspicious at the way his father looks at one of the lionesses, Hazina. His suspicions return after his mother mysteriously dies, and almost immediately his father gets married to this Hazina, but he tries to think of it as an accident .
However, later his new half siblings inform him about his father and stepmother's plot to kill him along with Kuongoza and Kivita. Kuongoza rallies up an army, and has Surajah and Hazina over thrown and killed. After that, Kuongoza honors all four of his siblings by splitting the Sunlands into four division, each ruled by one sibling. Kuongoza was still the king of the Sunlands, but his siblings did more than just smile in the back ground.
Mwlil gets himself a mate named Alasiri, a lioness who arrived from Nyota (Senior)'s original pride. They have a daughter together named Mackenzie. Mackenzie runs into a lion named Choyo, who is the last surviving descendant of the evil lions of the past that attacked the pride lands and had to be defeated by Mwlil's ancestor, Askari.
While some animals feel that combining the bloodlines of the evil lions and Askari is a good idea, Mwlil is against it. One, the evil lion's blood line should die with Choyo. Two, he knew Choyo was bad news. He was selfish and lazy.

But Mackenzie wouldn't listen. She ran away with Choyo and lived in what would later be known as the Outlands. Back then, it was the Crystal province, known for it's now forgotten crystal caves. It was close to the elephant graveyard, a place of exile for the villains of the Pride lands, but back then it was a kingdom ruled by buffalos.

Mwlil searched for his daughter for years, but he never saw her again.
