Description I have a weird love/hate relationship with the franchise.

Mainly, I don't like.

I never liked it. And I tried reading it to see what the hype was all about.

However, I can see WHY people might like this book.

It's a love story with super-powerful fantasy guys and a heroine is basically the reader by proxy. And there is a few good jokes and some interesting secondary characters.

But what threw me off the books was the poor writing, the even poorer french translation, the lack of spine and brains of the leading girl, the overbearing and useless self-provoked angst, and the ending. The ending is so weird, even actual fans acknowledge it's awful. This book also taught me it was possible to overuse the words "Dazzling" and "love".

But, this book is very present in my life lately. A lot of my friends are fans. I would say, about half my friends are fans.

So, i'm kinda inclined to see the better parts of the franchise out of respect for them.

However, Jennifer, if you ever try to drag me to see this movie again, I will stake you. With a half-wood, half-silver spoon.

Don't temp me.

I just now found this and was immediately reminded of the parody by multi-banned super-bizarro author Shawn Wunjo, who describes his "Ass" as "the tale of one young woman's [hosed] up love forΒ a corpseΒ and aΒ furry. Yeah, [poo poo] is that bad."

(Hi! I'm the guy from Chambersburg who drove up to Carlisle to pick up his We Want Shiny Things package from Megan. If she didn't mention me, shame on her! Shame, I say!)

I LOVE IT! Can I please, please, please post this on facebook? I sorta collect reasons why Twilight has problems. From comparing Bella to Hermione, to the overuse of the word "smolder".

Also, on the topic of bad writing, where was her editor? David Eddings, writer of the "Belgariad","Malloreon" and other fantasy series, said that the best way to know if something [that you've written] sounds right, is to say it, or have someone else say it, out loud.

I can't believe I've never seen this before. This is amazing.

I'm in the same spot of having friends who like the Twilight series and having to hold my tongue when they gush about it. Thankfully, none of them ever dragged me to one of the movies.

Yeah. I still think it had the potential to be something really good. It's too bad the writer decided to go for a weak role model lead instead.

I disliked the many time that Bella referred to Edward as 'Greek/a Greek God'... the last Greeks I saw were plump, hairy (especially the women), short and fond of pinching my cheeks and babbling on about how sore their stomachs were.

I remember coming across this awhile back. Not looking at it again I can see the similar drawing style from Namesake I feel like an idiot I am not sure how I miss that.

It's a pretty old drawing though, so it's normal the style isn't obvious.

And I'm with you about the angst and the poorly written thing!

I listened to the book on audio and I had to stop myself multiple times from just turning it off. (Mostly in the "Dazzling" and "love" parts).

I like your cartoon though.

I'm coming in kind of late with this comment...but I agree!

My sisters read all the books, adored them, and dragged me to the first two movies.

My opinion on the moves, thought the guys were good looking. That's it, then went on to bash what I'd heard of the books. My sister then brought forth a challenge.

'You should actually read the books before you bash them!'

Challenge accepted! ...but only the first. I hated the book. Found myself all 'starry eyed' over all the frilly flirting going on between bella and edward then snapped out of it the next day. I agree with you about the book, not very well written, and I don't bother with the movies anymore either.

But yes, a long agreement that could have been accomplished with the first line.

Love the image!

It's a bit sad because honestly, with minimal effort this could have been a great AND popular book and not just a popular one that is mediocre...

Haha I never thought of it as necrophilia and bestiality! xDDDD

I udnerstand what you mean about the whole love-hate thing though. I read the first book when I was in 7th grade and I loved it. But then I went to re-read it a few years ago, and I was like, " What? Why the hell did I like this? This thing sucks!"
