"Alexa. Alexa. ALEXA"
Alexa jolted away only to find Emery an inch from her nose, slapping her cheek and eating a banana.
"Gah....What? What the hell is it?" They were in covered bed of the truck and cold sunlight shone threw the semi tinted windows.
"You totally slept in." Emery rolled off of Alexa and began pulling on her clothes. "The show's already started and we've got..." She looked at the roof as though it were a clock. "1 hour and 32 minutes to have Ailia fed and ready for her class."
"Damn it, Emery!" Alexa burst into action. She clambered out of her sleeping bag and crawled toward the backdoor, still clad in boxer shorts and a tank top.
"Get my clothes ready!" She commanded Emery as she slipped into boots and trotted around to the horse trailer. Ailia looked up curiously from her place inside and snorted while Alexa climbed in and began digging through the supply room for oats and grooming supplies.
Soon the young Nordanner was tied outside, muching happily through her bucket of feed. Alexa stood beside her bare legged and freezing in the cold Minnesota wind, brushing away until the mare's coat shone. Next she moved onto quickly braiding Ailia's mane and plaiting her tail. 40 minutes passed in the rush and Emery finally emerged from the truck, carrying Alexa's clothes and sucking on a candy cane.
"Tack her up while i get dressed?" Alexa requested as she took the clothes and disappeared into the trailer.
When she come out again, Ailia had finished eating and stodd nearly ready, with only her girth to be tightened and her leg guards to be attached.
The young mare was a sight to see in full show jumping tack, and Alexa was elated to be at their first performance show. All the weeks of training together would hopefully pay off today.
