Hello everyone, I have finally finished one of several projects I am still dying to complete. Well what can I say about this drawing, it's about the Trio simply taking a little time to view the journey they have before them. (Who knows what that may be) I was really pleased with the results but one thing kinda bugs me...the background and grass seem a little messy, grrr, but it's whatevers, I guess... This took a looong time to complete and it's not because I am slow at drawing, it's because I barely have time to draw on the computer due to work and friends who keep me from doing so. >_<

Like I said in my earlier comment, this is indeed a beautiful piece of art. The colors are very vibrant, but not too "hyper-rainbow-infused". Most of the shading is in its proper place, and I can see where the sun should be. Some of the shading though, like at the bottom of the picture, might be a little too dark, to be a picture of the outdoors. (Unless the time there is sunset, as suggest by the yellow hue at the bottom of the sky, then I guess it would be fine. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a… " width="19" height="19" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="417" title="Sweating a little..."/>
I have a suggestion for your shading: If you use Photoshop, like you said, then you can find a blending tool and smooth out some of the rough edges present, such as the clouds, floating blocks, and the colorful hill thingies (since I have no idea what they're called e.deviantart.net/emoticons/x/x… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="93" title="XD"/>). The shading on the Trio though is beautiful. A little dark, but beautiful.

I have to agree with you: your grass does look a bit rough, but at least it's better than what I can do! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/l/l… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="384" title="LOL"/> I like what you do with those grass cleft thingies, it does give it their grassy touch. The mountains, though, could be a little lighter, to signify their distance from the hill the Trio are on (unless the mountain is super close to them, then it's fine where it is.)

I can't position feet like that in my drawings. Actually I was feeling a little bit iffy on the intensity of the shading (especially the grass), and according to your observation, this piece does take place during sunset. What I should have thought of was to darken the top part of the sky which would give off the full effect of the sunset in which all my shading effects would all have been described perfectly.  I do agree the sunset color doesn't quite match with the shading effect of the drawing, so you are most definitely correct about that.

 

I'm guessing what you are talking about the placement of each background is the blur tool, which would smoothen out the background to give the feeling of how apart each background is to the other. The hill where the Trio stands, the valley the koopa walks, the colorful hills, and the mountains (in that order are significantly going further back. I understand what you meant when you mentioned that.

 

Y'know, I have completely forgot about the shine streak in the hair, so that one was my mistake...

 

Actually, the goomba was taking a nap, but was peeking through one eye at the Trio.

 

To top this off, I really do appreciate you taking time to type this incredibly well written critique. I notice and admit there were some flaws and improvements in order to make my drawing even better. Thank you very much Abbie!!! Your such a dear writing this, it means a whole lot to me...you deserve a ribbon and a mega-ultra hug!!! *hugs you and swings you around*

That was the same I felt about this contest I was doing just rushing to do it

 

I do like Emily's pose she looks as if she was about to run out there without even thinking XD

Luis by the other hand is looking out to see if its safe(looks in of worry there )

 

Haha and little Elizabeth looks more intersted in that flower than the adventure 

 

Looks bit peaceful in the Mushroom kingdom

Sometimes it's not a good idea to rush as you can tell certain parts of mine were, but I did check and edited parts of the drawing because it did look sort of messy before. XP

 

I see you nailed that right with Emily and Luis. Emily is the type of girl to head out without thinking sometimes but would usually think "I am ready, here I go!" Luis is the cautious type in which would like to know how things turn out further ahead. As for Elizabeth, she is not exactly interested in that flower too much, she is just simply enjoying them during their time of relaxation before they head off.

 

I agree with you, it really is peaceful and quiet in the Mushroom Kingdom now, and would like to lay on the grass and stare at the sky. I very much appreciate your comment and observation Crazy-Drawer101!!!

Thank you very much Abbie!!! Means a whole lot to me that you do!  Thanks for that as well although I have done a little much shading effects on the characters than on the background since I did indeed rush a bit in the end.

 

Dat koopa was very fun to draw, although I should have included him with an IPod as well, would have turned out better but oh well...

 

You read my mind on that, plus they probably make that long journey over to Bowser's for what? Can you make a guess? Alexis give you a hint, it's located in my profile
