Description Kamenita Vrata, Zagreb

I know it's not perfect. I tried to make another HDR but it's so hard when I have compact camera

Photomatix + Virtual Photographer

Taken from here

As stories go, the story behind the Kamenita Vrata stone gate, located in Zagreb, Croatia is quite intriguing. This stone archway was one of four main gates leading into the walled Upper Town (Gornji Grad) during feudal times. In the year 1731 a major fire wiped out most of the town except for a sole picture of the Virgin Mary. It evidently remained untouched with only a slightly burnt frame. In 1760 when the town was rebuilt, the archway became a holy location for people who wanted to say prayers and light a candle or two in the presence of the Virgin.

To get to the Kamenita Vrata, you do have a bit of a climb to get there. But once there you will enjoy the atmosphere of the location while you admire the painting of the Virgin and Child in an alcove behind a baroque grid. Many take it as a miraculous sign that the painting/picture survived the great fire. You will find a few pews in the small chapel.

Wonderful architectural photo and composition; the history supplied is of great interest and I'm glad you included it; it completes the picture very well. Very nice work!

Thank you so much for your comment

I'm not satisfied with it anymore, I should make a new one with my dslr. It was one of my first HDRs

I like to include history in such photos. Zagreb is an old town with long and interesting history which I like to share with others who never heard for it.

My big apologize for such long delay. I always have lot of messages and have bad habit to start answering to last posted messages. That's why old ones always wait

even if you don't totally like it, i do and i especially like the creamy (once more ) creamy colors with highlight in this
the only problem in this is the angle...the building angle is good, but if the camera was held a bit more downwards it would have been perfect! the horizon line seems unstable like this, giving me an unease when it should make me relax

Thank you for your comment , even I didn't understand all what you wanted to say (my bad english sorry ) This was taken with an old sony DSC H1 and I was learning how to use it. Btw, those were one of my first photos

That creamy look I made with virtual photographer (plugin for PS).

ooh...well i just said that it's great and it could have bin better; experiment with landscape angles and with camera angles..like hold it above your head or near your feet and so on when you take a picture; hope that's better..the english i mean

ooh i see! good to know

Sedma In reply to BlackDelphin [2008-12-15 23:28:17 +0000 UTC]

wait... wait... wait... you went too far I know how to turn camera on, how to change lens, how to remove cup from lens... hahaha... and you wish me to experiment with angles. I hardly know how to make photo from right angles I'm just kidding, but it's not far from truth

Thanks, you made me start thinking

Your english is perfect, mine is bad

Is it first time? I like it very much, colours are really good, but you need to try different tone mapping in photomatix, it gives you more details and effects on the hdr photos.
