Description I've made these swirled lentil beads weeks ago and want to turn them into some earrings - I wreck my brain 'cause I don't want to just hang them on hooks - so this is what I come up with, I've made a matching tiny swirled heart to hang at the bottom too - I hope you like it

I don't like the wire at all but it's the only one I can get here, it's too soft and don't matches the silver of the earhook, I'd rather like a red wire

made from polymer clay (fimo)

I don't have such tiny chains and my threads are either too thin or too thick
I extra bought tigertail but that didn't work out either
maybe some cute chiffon ribbon would work, what do you think?

Oh noes, I can sympathise! Technical difficulties suck big time

Chiffon ribbon sounds good, I think

I feel a little disabled sometimes and think that all the good supplies are not available in germany
why did it take soo long to get those fimo ideas to germany? and you can't buy all the supplies for that either, like molds and pigments and...
maybe I get those chiffon ribbons I'm fantasizing of

Athalour In reply to seed-of-january [2009-08-09 21:26:28 +0000 UTC]

I know how that feels! We also struggle to get good supplies and cool stuff here. And to import costs a fortune. Sigh.

I hope you manage to find some ribbons. I have some thin organza ones - I can send you some with the ATC if you like?

oh yesterday I was quite down but today I'm singing and doing a happy dance 'cause I struck gold I found a tiny store today which have a wiiiideeeee selection of all sorts of ribbons yaya and cheap, what could I wish more I bought some champagner and pink organza ribbons and hopefully it will look good once the marshmallow is on it
I really really appreciated your support but for this time I'm more than good with what I found - I would have felt bad anyway, because you already send me some many nice things and I can't make it up to you

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

seed-of-january In reply to k-r-y-p-t-o [2009-08-08 17:27:27 +0000 UTC]

That's so cute! You were right to try something else than just hanging them from hooks, they look a thousand times better!

I think that the silver wire looks great I don't know if the red one would look better, but the silver one looks really good!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

seed-of-january In reply to Talty [2009-08-08 17:30:28 +0000 UTC]

Aaawww thank you soo much - then it was worth the try

I thought about colouring the wire maybe some red seed beads would be a nice addition - what do you think?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Talty In reply to seed-of-january [2009-08-09 16:07:37 +0000 UTC]

Is it possible to color the wire? I've never tried it! I guess it must be possible, everything is possible!

If you're going to add red beads, you should add white beads too! You know, to keep the color scheme and theme They would look very pretty with the red wire (it's wire, right?) you used to hang the lentil bead. I forgot to say that I really like the color of the red wire

The beads would look pretty indeed, but at this point I like the neatness of the earring: it looks very beautiful and the details are exquisite, without being overwhelming. What are you aiming for? If you think that it looks simple, go and add the beads I trust that you will make it look beautiful as well

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

seed-of-january In reply to Talty [2009-08-10 15:57:53 +0000 UTC]

I don't know if it is possible to color wire but I would have tried to paint it with glass colours
you're right I need to add white beads too
yes it is really thin red wire I used to hanf the lentil bead

I was aiming for a new design which would enrich the bead without overwhelming the it, because I think it's boring just to hang them onto the hook maybe add a bead or two...
I don't know if it would still look simple if I add the beads maybe it's too much then, but now I think it's too much silver - alas I cannot decide and am over-critical with my own work

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Talty In reply to seed-of-january [2009-08-11 02:47:57 +0000 UTC]

I think... I would try to color wire with metallic spray paint I don't know if it would work though.

I can relate to being over-critical of your own work I've suffered a big deal of that too. I'm the biggest critique of my own work. Well I think that a couple of beads won't be overwhelming, perhaps you could take it a step further and wire several small beads around the silver wire using the thin red wire.
