💙 Lapis before the Cluster Arc: A tragic morally-grey character that was unfairly kept trapped in a mirror by the heroes for thousands of years (all while still conscious) and seems to have lost a decent amount of her sanity over the years. A messed up thing happened to her and she's done messed up things (stealing the ocean, attacking and trying to drown Steven and Connie, forcing Jasper to stay fused with her) in order to not lose control over the situation and possibly be trapped and alone again...

💙 Lapis after the Cluster Arc: Has a consistently inconsistent personality, flip flops between being a sad broken girl, a deadpan emo or just being a dumb jerk. (She only gets properly called out on her jerkiness once by Peridot and Steven during Barnmates.) (I get that Steven and Peridot should have given her some space or respect her wish to not be friends with Peridot after the green gem imprisoned her, but crushing Peridot's tape recorder, which Peridot was giving her as a gift is going too far! Also, nobody was forcing Lapis to stay at the barn, Lapis could've asked Steven if there are other places in Beach City that are uninhabited and Steven could offer the lighthouse or something!) (And for some reason, even though Lapis is mad at Peridot for imprisoning her for a few days, she's okay with the Crystal Gems who kept her trapped in a mirror for 1000 years?!)

💙 What they could have done with Lapis: Expand more on Lapis being called out on her flaws and her wallowing in self-pity at the bad things that happened to her, when she has done bad things herself and isn't completely a victim... Teaching people that you can't use being a victim as an excuse to do messed up things (especially to people that haven't wronged you) and to take responsibility for your actions!

💚 Peridot before the Cluster Arc: A cool, competent and mysterious villian that just wants to do her job and is slowly losing her sanity while on Earth.

💚 Peridot during/after the Cluster Arc: She has a pretty good redemption arc, though I don't like how when it's revealed that she's small, she starts to act more childish and it doesn't help that the show feels like it's infantilizing her sometimes. (It's especially frustrating when you remember that Ruby and Sapphire are short and are treated with proper respect.) I wish they kept some parts of Peridot's old personality when she became a hero, but that's just me.

💚 What they could have done to Peridot: Since Peridot is a crystal gem, she should've had her own room in the temple and she could make as many cool gadgets and weapons as she wants and give these things to the gems! (Basically becoming their new Bismuth!)

🧡 Jasper before the Cluster Arc: A badass and powerful warrior gem with a bit of brain to go with her brawn.

🧡 Jasper after the Cluster Arc: Losing sanity, but still badass and also a surprisingly tragic villian that wanted to avenge her leader and her story never got a satisfying conclusion...

🧡 What they could have done to Jasper: Redeem her instead of the Diamonds!
