Description 2009.

Model: April Johnston
Styling: An Le

I'm uploading these out of order.
--
This was my first fashion shoot. It was freezing cold, but we managed. April was a really great, even in the short dress and open-toed heels she didn't complain any more than the rest of us.
I'd like to do more of this (and I will) when it's warmer.
--
I've got a few more from the shoot that I'll be putting up, but I haven't decided how many.

Strobist: ABR Ringflash with 30" diffuser as a beauty light, high and to camera-left. Gridded and orange-gelled strobe low and behind model for rim lighting.

For your first time, this is really good.
I really like the overal mood the colors set.
Also, the angle is fantastic. I have been trying to do something to, but alas, I should have come closer. (How far were you off btw?)

Your picture is both inspiring and beautiful. Congratz to everyone involved.
'ed!

this photo is reeeeally reeeeeally old. I don't remember much from the shoot. I still don't shoot a ton of fashion but I know that I wouldn't shoot this wide and close anymore. I'm too technical and this kind of distortion is usually frowned upon in fashion.

This is fantastic, too! I love the angle you picked.

She looks stunning and the quality is impressive.

Is the orange gelled strobe creating the orange glow on her neck or is that other street lighting?
I think I can tell where it is in the other photos but just not sure in this one. Just curious to know for when I have to start lighting for shoots.

That's the gelled strobe. I don't think the ambient exposure would have been long enough to have that effect. Thanks for your interest!

I like how you can see the detail on the shoes in this one, I didn't notice that before. Very nice.
