artist's comments: As some of you may, or may not, know, Rosie has cancer. Rosie has been my long-time horse, who is now twenty eight years old. She has a cancerous lump in her chest. The only hope of survival is surgery. Even then, she might die when put under anesthesia. If that doesn't happen, she has an even greater chance of dying due to infection afterward. Even if she survived both, there's an even greater chance of the procedure not removing everything and it redeveloping.

I don't want her to suffer anymore.

Rosie, darling, I am going to miss you so, so bad. I love you. You taught me everything I know about riding, about living, and about loving. I replaced you with Burghley, but through all that time, I still loved you more than anything. I wish I'd given you more carrots and pats on the neck, I do, and come Wednesday I'm going to do nothing but cry my heart out. I'm crying now. I've cried most of the day, all for you.

But wherever you go,
you'll get to live like a real horse.

This was vent art.. It's not very good, but I had the concept in mind the second I found out Rosie's only hope was to be put down.
The idea of this is.. I want to hold onto Rosie. I love her and I want her to stay with me, even at the cost of her own pain.
But I've only got a couple of hairs to hang onto, and by pulling them, I'll eventually rip them out and she'll fall anyways.

Sometimes it's easiest to let go.
