This is the cover for Unauthorized Justice, which is my ongoing fan comic project in the same vein as "Legacy of the DCAU" and "Earth-27", though more like the latter in that it is it's own full-fledged custom continuity as opposed to a continuation of a pre-existing one.

CHARACTERS FEATURED HERE:

Superboy, Beast Boy, Robin, Raven, Aquaboy & Nightstar

Superboy: Conner Kent, also known as Kon-El, is the younger, brasher, cockier and much flirtier younger equivalent to the one and only Superman - the boy (or "twink") of steel to the world renowned man of steel. There's a lot more I could go into him, but a lot of would be too much of a spoiler, so I will leave it at saying he is indeed Kon and that's about it for now. As you know, Kon has all of the powers that Clark does - heat vision eye beams, flight/levitation, super strength, super endurance, x-ray vision, that uncanny ability to wear glasses and have nobody recognize him, etc.

Design Basis - "Basis"? He's literally just a re-use of the Reign of the Supermen design, suit and body build completely left unchanged. The literal only very subtle change is his eye color, the UJ Kon has a deeper blue eye color, but the reason behind this "hypocrisy" is actually too much of a spoiler for me to explain.

Beast Boy: Justin Garfield Roth Logan is the son of Garfield Logan and his "widowed" girlfriend Rachel Roth. Garfield gave his soul in sacrifice to prevent Trigon being "reincarnated" through his son's body, though in the aftermath this left Rachel/Raven as a single mother caring for Justin on her own. As a teenager, Justin has taken up his father's mantle as the second and current Beast Boy, though unlike Garfield he has a more limited shapeshifting power - he is only able to transform into a lineup beasts of demonic origin rather than into the animals of earth, but to make up for this limitation he has a fair share of his mother's own demonic magic abilities as well; as well as other "demon physiology" traits.

Design basis: Justin's appearance and even power set takes inspiration from all major Beast Boy variants. His color scheme is mostly from TT 2003-06, his overall design is mostly from YJ 2010-22, his "devil trigger" powers are a reference to the DCAMU (r.i.p.) and I go back and forth on whether to make him and Gar look Asian (via the eyes) in reference to Ryan Potter/Titans.

Robin: The Robin of Titans West is none other than Damian Wayne, son of Batman and Talia al Ghul. There's not much to really say about Damian's backstory, y'all should really know it by now. Which is to say, I don't really make any serious backstory changes from the comics that would be worth mentioning here and not in a bio or the actual project itself. As for powers/abilities, Damian has no superpowers per say but is incredibly skilled in martial arts and swordsmanship, having been trained both by professional assassins and by his father Batman.

Design basis: The template is from a horrible movie I refuse to ever acknowledge, but I needed to change it in order to get across that this Damian has no connection to such a horrendous finale at all. He's been given his fade hairstyle from the Supersons comics, and adopted his grey-red color scheme from the current comics as well - just with some light changes. I did keep the hood from his original appearance though, because Damian having a hood is iconic. Most importantly though, I gave Damian a tan. While yes arab people can have light skin and he is only half-arabic, not only is it a frequent criticism that he is too white most of the time but honestly I just think he looks better and more distinct from the other robins this way.

Also Damian x Raven has already been made impossible in this universe, Raven is like x2 Damian's age here.

Raven: Rachel Roth, known to most people as Raven, has been with the Teen Titans since the original team even in this universe - but this is the first time she's ever been put "in charge" of one, being assigned to the newly formed "Titans West" team as it's designated adult and den mother - though in Beast Boy's case it's also literal mother. The daughter of the demon lord Trigon, Raven frequently has to work to prevent her father from returning and spreading his own evil chaos throughout the world; at some point she fell in love with the original Beast Boy, Garfield Logan, and fell pregnant. When her father tried to come back through her own son's body, she sought the help of John Constantine & Zatanna to prevent this from happening - though to complete the prevention Garfield had to sacrifice his soul, leaving Raven to raise their son Justin as a single mother and a "widow" without even being officially married. As for powers, Raven is a very powerful magic/sorcery user especially now that she is a full grown adult with much more experience than when she was first on the original Titans team, and her demonic genes also grant her a lot of other supernatural abilities & unique physiology traits as well.

Design Basis: Her face and hairstyle are largely taken from Zatanna both from the DCAMU and from Young Justice Season 3/Season 4. Her outfit is basically just a slightly edited version of the main universe one from Injustice, with the stockings/leggings from the DCAMU. The idea here, which will be shown in the recap pages of this project, is that Raven went through an "evolution" of designs as she grew up. early teens would be the TT 2003/DCAMU look (they'd both look very similar in this style), later teens would be Rebirth, early through mid 20's would be current comics and this look is her in late 20's/early 30's.

I know I'm not the best artist, her more complicated suit really was difficult for me to translate properly with my head. There are others who can replicate this style much better than me. I did what I could, I don't have any help here.

Nightstar: Nightstar, also known as Mar'i Grayson, is the daughter of Kori'andr and Richard "Dick" Grayson - both known better as Starfire and Nightwing. On the Titans West team, she serves as what is essentially her mother's ""successor" (even though Kori is still a member of the original team), sharing many of her mother's solar-based powers as well having picked up a thing or two from her dad. Though not by blood, some may consider her to be Batman's granddaughter and Damian's niece. Even though they are practically the same age. The Bat-family be like that.

Design Basis: I used what I could find on google images, as well as references of the Young Justice/DCAMU women (who weren't Zatanna and including Starfire herself) as the template/reference for her look. She has no non-comic appearances to draw from, so I modernized the look based on the main reference I had for her. While Mar'i is often shown with light skin I tried out Starfire's skin tone from the DCAMU here. Some more skin diversity was needed on this team.

Aqualad: Prince Arthur, or Arthur Curry Jr., or just Arthur Junior, or even "Arthur II" is the son of Arthur Curry the original though now retired Aquaman and full time King of Atlantis and his wife, Queen Mera. While Jackson "Kaldur'ahm" Hyde serves as the current Aquaman on the Justice League, the young prince is trying to prove himself by being a member of the newest Teen Titans team on the surface world. A The "Prince of the Sea" is both a "waterbender" as well as a bit of a magic user, though perhaps a bit of a fish out of water too (pun intended). I know he's usually called "Aquaboy" but given I'm putting Kaldur/Jackson on the JL I feel like Prince Arthur should just be "Aqualad" in this universe.

Design Basis: Arthur Jr's design is basically unchanged from Young Justice (2010-2022) except he's just been altered to look older, with a bigger (but still smol) body, more angular edges to his hair/head, and also a bigger head shape in general. But the overall suit design is still the same. Due to the comics being on that demon time there's not a whole lot of Arthur Jr. appearances to really draw from.

TEAM BACKGROUND:

Will be depicted in the project itself, but this Team's background is that they are the latest off-shoot of the Teen Titans, officially led by "den mother" Raven and based on the other side of the U.S.A. from where the original team is. I won't spoil much about their founding but that's basically it. For now. All will be revealed, but this project primarily follows them as they build their team and do superhero stuff, while also having pizza sometimes.

Basically in this universe, the original team is "Titans East" and this team is the one in the West. This is actually more comic-accurate than how the 2003 show depicted it.

WHAT IS UNAUTHORIZED JUSTICE:

(Warning I might get heated in this section depending on how much "Justice League Crap: Shitopolips Dump" enters my mind while typing. May be rewritten and eventually removed over time)

Unauthorized Justice is a similar project to "5 Years Later" (Ben 10/Danny Phantom crossover comic), "Earth-27" (the fan-made DC universe project) and "Legacy of the DCAU" (the fan-made Timmverse continuation), being mostly a "fan-made" project. Albeit the inspiration behind creating it was more out of spite and coping with trauma, being how the reason I made this is mostly because I despise the film "Justice League Crap: Shitopolips Dump" and what it did to my favorite version of Superboy that I refuse to let that design never be seen again so I decided to just take the design and give it a new universe to call home in complete dissociation from the DCAMU. I don't want to do a "Legacy of the DCAMU" because thanks to that horrible movie there is no legacy worth mentioning at all, all of the movies are completely and utterly pointless/meaningless to ever think about or revisit ever again.

Why isn't this a DCAMU continuation = The DCAMU is rendered completely worthless, meaningless and pointless to ever discuss, remember or be nostalgic for at all. It's ending renders the entire series without any purpose to exist, nor gives you any reason to be attached. I would have to acknowledge a movie that I despise so much it made me never want to touch a comic again, a movie that traumatized me to a point I still have not actually read or watched ANYTHING DC has made since it's release. So no, this isn't "Legacy of the DCAMU". If it wasn't for that horrific final movie, maybe it would be. The final movie is just too horrible. I can't picture anything good coming after a movie like that, unless you want all of the people who died to be shown with severe depression, self-harm and resenting all of the survivors because remembering that movie would trigger my full on angst mode. I hate that movie, and I hate the Tomorrowverse too. I just want nothing to do with the Tomorrowverse at all.

Why this isn't a YJ Fan comic = I hate the YJ version of Superboy. I hate his design. I hate his personality. I hate his storyline. I hate the fact so many people see him now as the definitive version of Kon thanks to him being the one in the show. I hate how he's basically Edward from Twilight but with the body of Jacob. I hate how he got the happy ending but the Kon I actually liked was thrown away like he was garbage. So no, I don't want to work with that show's version of Kon if I can avoid it. But beyond that, not only could YJ potentially get a Season 5 one day and negate anything I make, though unlikely, but the show's continuity, cast and lore is incredibly bloated. It would be very difficult for me to make a continuation of that show even without factoring my disdain for it's depiction of Superboy. There's also the fact that my hatred of that horrible animated movie made me unable and unwilling to ever actually watch Season 4.

A note to the animators and writers of the DCAMU/YJ: I know it hurts you to no end to see a fan project bringing back a Kon design you tried so hard to ensure would never be seen, loved, cherished or appreciated ever again - and to you all I can say is fuck you, get bent sideways, kiss my ass and go fuck yourselves. Next time you wanna snap necks, don't.
