Description Part of a series of photographs taken from underneath a maypole. Pretty green and purple ribbons, outlined by a deep blue sky, are woven together by dozens of women young and old at Mount Holyoke college's annual May Pageant in May of 2006. May day is traditionally a pagan holiday, but here it represents the beginning of the true growing season. It is a celebration that anyone can take part in.

All pictures in the series were taken with a Minolta Freedom Zoom 130 and then scanned in using a Lexmark 1150 which unfortunately has taken down the quality of what you are seeing considerably.


The last photo in the set is probably my favourite with regard to cropping and coloring. Aside from a few stray sunspots, I think it's a lovely picture.

Thank you! It's really a great thing to photograph because there's so much color and movement. I hope you like the other 8 as much.
