This is going to be my friend Jessie's Christmas present when I finish it. Yes, I'm quite behind on making presents for everybody. I finished some for my family but I'm still going, bit by bit. I've been spending most of the last couple of months writing a ton (110k+ words) and only drawing a little bit, so it's kind of slow going catching back up.Jessie is a belly dancer. She asked me to draw her a gypsy-looking belly dancer, so here's my best shot! Motion is very, very hard to draw. I might change my mind about her hair. Anyway, I'm going to transfer, ink, and color this at some point in the future, but I'm really, really intimidated by it. Not entirely sure about the color scheme. Warm colors or cool? We'll see. Maybe reds, pinks, and greens.

She tends to like happy fiery colors - oranges, yellows, reds. But I was thinking something like a deep midnight blue with royal blues and royal purples. Or there's that whole earthy browns and greens thing! All I know is that the dancer's going to have warm black hair and a swarthy complexion, so I'll have to plan around that...

Hmm! Maybe you could do a rich, blue/purple background, then the foreground in the fiery colors? They compliment each other well and would make the dancer really pop. But I don't know, I'm so bad with colors, rofl

Oooh, dancing by firelight, perhaps? I might do a CG color test of that and see how it comes together. It definitely sounds like a good idea to me! Thank you for the suggestion.

Oh, I like the composition of this one. I like the balance of the positive/negative space, as well as the lack of perfectly horizontal or vertical lines.
