Description
God slowly closed the doors of heaven. Meanwhile, the near by humans that inhabited the world of persephone could only watch in horror as their brother worlds were taken into heaven. As the doors that shed light on this planet closed, cold crept into the world full of already cold-hearted humans. The suffering began as the world began to freeze over.-----
Aprox. 19 hours to complete.
Software used: Photoshop 7.0
Hardware used: Logitec MX 510, Canon Powershot A510
One photograph that I took of the sky was used in the redish areas in the nebula. The rest was done completely by hand (or mouse). It was done using the combination of the brush tool, smudge tool, and patience. Inspiration came from Alyn's "Nebulae in Art" article. Thanks for taking a look at the piece.

O___O Holy llama I could never have the patience to do something like that. xD I get bored just doing my peopleish art; I couldn't just sit there and draw that for hours at a time. So I admire you for it. ^^ It's really amazing, so keep it up. However... I would try doing other stuff, too, though. ^^

I've done all sorts of stuff. I've been doing digital art for about 4 years now. I've done abstract, pixel, animation, grunge, photography, surrealism, poetry, etc. You name it, I've probably given it a try. I just didn't start posting my stuff till recently, and currently, this is what I'm into.

not bad, its a bit chaotic (might want to look into composition of pieces etc.) and also have a look at some colour theory as well as the colours dont really compliment each other (especially all that grey). still, lots of texture which is good, so overall a good effort.

Grey? I included some white light, but grey? Hmm... I suppose there are some grey parts where it transitions from intense white light to another shade, but that's pretty unavoidable.

Good job! I once tried something like this.. never completed the image and it wasn't even the half as good as this one!
I especialy like the center center part a lot! may be you should make a white border around it and place the text on the border.. Just a thought!

Beautiful title, but Heaven is much more than just stars and planets. There should be more joy in the picture. It's pretty, but pretty doesn't always say, "Joy!"

I suppose. It all depends on your outlook. I'm not a religious man, in fact, I have a very negitive outlook on religion as a whole. But that's a story for another time...

You have too much negative space, fill it, and remeber to use rule of thirds. Those focal points are important to composition. That's just some basic stuff though. Google for image composition.

Ive heard of that rule before..something about having the major elements of the piece spaced so that if it were divided into thirds, one major element would be in each third.
Or something like that...

Love the colours. The circular thing (I know nothing about Space, excuse the ignorance) in the top left looks a little too... 'shrink-wrapped' I guess would be the word.
