The residual decay of the catastrophic magick still lingered on the air … bitter ozone left the tip of his tongue tingling oddly … it was the familiar stamp of the Avada curse …
They had arrived soon enough to feel those tenebrous effects that clung upon the atmosphere … Yet much too late to have altered the results of the terrible sorcery …
He propelled the dazed Severus away from the tragic scene … charging him with the safety of the recently orphaned infant …
Severus looked down upon the desolation he had helped to invoke, he had been shocked into a state of inaction until Albus thrust the miraculously still living child into his arms …
“We must take flight - Now … His only chance is for us to act quickly … come Severus … They are beyond our aid … “
Severus stumbled forward … He would steal a glance at the wailing child who wriggled in his arms as he fled … familiar eyes looking up back into his own – searching - haunted and filled with an indefinable and unspoken pain …
His own watershed of tears had suddenly begun to rain down on the child, a sorrowful baptism of their mutual grief …

Oh, Sempra, what a beautifully tragic story and image. I rather like the idea of Severus carrying Harry away. -At least, I assume that's Harry. Sometimes you come up with great stories that take place later and leave us thinking it was something else. LOL! - Anyway, I really love it. And, actually, of all the parts, my favorite was Albus tasting the tingle of the curse on his tongue. That was a really neat idea!
