Early work... a sketch really, for one of the covers I made for the Book of Dark Wisdom (Elder Sign Press).I just ran across this and wanted to put it up here. Probably will scrap it later, but in the meantime here ya go.

This is a sketch? Really worked out and tricked for a sketch, I think. But nicely done no less. I wish your full views were a bit larger so I could see all the little details you've put in, especially around the eye(s).

I think this is exemplary of your style at it's finest; epic and pushing the borders of the page and exercising the eye as well as the mind. The grandeur of the expression is too complex to be defined in any discernible context. It conveys, to me, a decidedly unpleasant and somehow natural part of the universe much like death, decay and rot, which are not evil but necessary. It is the fullfillment of a cycle at its crescendo.
