It's a really impressive piece of tradition art. It would please me to be able to make one of my photos look like that.

Love it.. really inspiring. I just started getting into textured abstracts myself. Is that done with pastes or have you used foreign material underneath? Would love to know your techniques.. if you are willing to share.

Yep, that is right and no prob. I have no secrets.
I sometimes use bone, feathers, sticks, wood, whatever is natural and not likely to degrade the image.
I think we need to let go of the conventions and traditional notions of "painting".

Those are crafts that are good to learn but we should not limit ourselves to a set of media or parameters of use for that media. Without risk there is not progress. Of course some works are bound to be less successful but artists are not known for their timidity.

That's a painting!?! Dude! I thought that was a sculpture. That has major texture!!

Senecal In reply to SnapShot120 [2013-02-20 02:31:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, I've been working with very thick media these days. Often building up the surfaces so I can carve into them. It feels like creating my own "cave walls" to make totemic incisions.

Anyway, all the blah blah art stuff aside, I really appreciate you checking it out.

They should have a category for that: half sculpture and half painting.

I absolutely love the colors and the sharp detail. The subject has such a natural, rushed, almost feral feel to its creation. Very interesting photo!

Thanks very much - you are really getting it. Feral is a good word. Good to hear your thoughts about it.

Dude this is insane... what's going on here and how did you make it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Senecal In reply to nerral [2013-02-20 02:33:06 +0000 UTC]

Ha, it is one of those strange intersections. It is not really a real object... well NOW it is but what you are seeing, in the way you are seeing it does not really exist in that state.

How's that for some deep art speak!
I think I am getting better at this stuff.
