Emily writes:

"Nahiraya Iris’hal no Amhyn, nicknamed “Faine” by her mother Vanwé, would later be known as Riahanna, the last Godspeaker. Riahanna would be one of the most influential women in her time, and indeed, within the entire history of her people. But in her youth, she was simply “Faine,” or serenity, a young girl apprenticed to the order of the Godspeakers.

When Faine was eleven, civil war broke out amongst her people. The war would continue for over a decade, and turn Faine’s life into a tragedy, shattering her peaceful world forever. This painting, done by the wonderfully artistic, talented, and now disgustingly cutesy (I claim all credit for this, and do demand that she pays me back eventually in either booze, or more paintings, or both) Katie (aka my “mom” and the winner of the Best Canadian Ever award – there’s only 5 Canadians though, so I’m not sure how much of an achievement that is)... so like yeah, this painting captures one of the last few peaceful moments in Faine’s life."
