Download for full viewThis is an art trade with one of my best friends, ! We haven't had an art trade in a while, so this was really fun. She wanted me to draw her new character, Skylark. ^.^

I like to think that I've at least improved a little bit from the last time I drew him.. xD

He's certainly a very flamboyant character, and exceptionally well done (as all your animals characters are). Is he meant to be some kind of dog/fox hybrid?

That's an interesting site where you uploaded the other artwork (I liked you comments and agree with them). Awesome art, as always. You really have a way of infusing so much character and interest in your animals, not to mention how well proportioned they are.

I didn't know about that site, but I had heard there are people that have an animal alter ego (which I understand since Alexander is somewhat like that for me). But if I understand correctly some of it has a sexual aspect, and that's a bit too odd for me; but I like the art on the site so thanks for telling me about it. I wish I could think of another commission for you; perhaps that drawing of Alexander in the style of the goat in your goat dream? What do you think? You know, my younger sister has cats she realy loves, so perhaps I could commision a portrait of them? If so just let me know the cost and I can send photos of the cats.

OMG, yes... some of them there are.. I'll just leave it at that. I'm only there because I draw lots of animals, but I don't do furry porn (animal porn).
Ja, I've been meaning to do a sketch of that idea and show you, then you can decide if you want to commission me for it or not. I'm just confused on if I should make him fully goat? Or a goat-man like he's ment to be. Let me know. ^^
Okay, for the cat portraits, I'm not good with realism anymore, but if you want them realistic, I'll practise quick, or do you just want them in my style? Let me know on this so I know what to do, and also digital or are we now talking tradional? xD

I think it's cool to have an animal persona but agree some people take it a bit too far. Still, it makes sense to post your art on that site. LOL, furry porn! Who knew there was such a thing? Glad you use your awesome talent for more wholesome pursuits; but I don't judge others, and as long as no one gets hurt I guess it's up to each person's conscious, and between them and God.
That's a good point about how to draw Alexander in the dream goat style...not sure how that might work. Perhaps you can use the photo of him in the link below for the pose and just draw him in the smooth, flowing style like your dream goat. Does that does even make sense? Sorry, that's probably as clear as mud. Anyway, here is perhaps my favorite image of him, if you want to try:

For the cat portraits I'd rather you drew them in your own style, so they don't need to be realistic or anything. Two of them are orange (I think you might call them ginger, like the English) tabbies and one is a tortoise shell or multi-color. You could create them in your own style and just use the photos for basic coloring and markings. Have you done cats before? Other than Aslan I don't recall seeing any felines. Digital is fine, and they could look similar to Moxi or any of the other dog and wolf like characters.

Haha! Yes, it's so... wrong. xD I prefer to draw animals for their innocent beauty. I'm not one to judge either, but several lines get crossed on that site.

Moxi is wonderful, and possibly the coolest animal alter ego I've seen. If I could draw like you I might have invented some sort of big cat for myself (probably a lynx since they are a particular favorite), but being totally without artistic talent necessitated the appropriation of an existing character, and Alexander appeals to me for some reason (even though I'm not really like him). Who knows why we are drawn to certain things? It's just too bad some people take things too far on that furry site; some things never cease to amaze me.
I asked my sister for photos of her cats but she lost them when her computer crashed. I'll have to try and take new ones.
Now I do remember seeing the cat, Jack, but must not have read the info posted with it. That's awful about your injury, and I hope you have healed since then. You did a great job with the cat, and I like how his ears are somewhat fox-like. I think you can draw any animal, and I really like your style.

I'm so glad you like her. ^^ I think her colour scheme is what makes her so eye catching, her old design was awful, she looked nothing like a fox. xD A lynx would make an awesome fursona, you don't see many of those. You mainly see wolves and lions as fursonas. Maybe one day a design will pop into your head. =3
It's awesome though that Alexander appeals to you. And I'm not sure what makes a character appealing, it confuses me. It's like in that Aardman movie, Chicken Run (not sure if you've seen it), but I didn't have a favourite character in there until I drew one. Sometimes I don't care about a character, until I draw them, then I suddenly feel drawn to them, if that even makes sense, because it doesn't too me. Often that's how my favourite characters come about, is me randomaly doodling them.
Argh, I know, I often see disturbing art coming up there, I'm happy I'll never contribute to it. I even had to put in my profile that I'm looking for anything sexual because people where sending me notes because they want to 'mate' with Moxi. :S
Aww well, in the mean time, I'll practise doodling cats so that I can get better at them. Haha, you're right, those ears are fox like. xD lol, I'll need to try draw their ears properly. I'm currently sketching that Alexander in that dreamlike style, I'm just playing around with it until I'm happy enough with it to show you.

Yes, Moxi is a very appealing character, and of all the dog-like animals the fox is my favorite. I wonder why wolves are so popular as fursonas? Lions I can understand, but I would not have guessed wolves. I wonder if it has anything to do with Werewolves. LOL, probably not many goat fursonas, if any at all!
Oh no, poor Moxi! So others on that site tried to hit on her? I did see the note you posted, so hopefully that will deter any more of that.
That's interesting how drawing a character changes the way you feel about it, but in a way it makes sense. Drawing one may be the equivalent of sitting down and talking with a real person, so the act of recreating a character yourself is almost a kind of bonding. That's my dime store psychology for the day.
BTW your "Chicken Run" drawings are great, and you perfectly captured the style. Stop motion animation is fascinating.
Thanks for working on the Alexander sketch in the dream-goat style. I'm eager to see it, but no hurry of course. Also, I respect your artistic sensibility, so if you think he just doesn't look right in that style I'll understand; but I bet it will be great.
Ah, you should hear compliments all the time! Since finding out about DA I've looked at scores of galleries, and while there is some amazing art on the site I still think your art is among the very best.

Comparing this to your old picture, you have improved quite a bit. Your colouring has gotten way better, and the anatomy has improved somewhat too. You've come a long way ^^
