Description

Akela hoped to strengthen teamwork among the younger pack members who were just starting to dip their toes into hunting. One exercise paired two who weren't known for getting along with each other and teaching them how to co-operate with those who they may not necessarily have to like. The leader could think no wolves more at odds with each other than his granddaughter, Lala, and the adopted Man-Cub, Mowgli. The former was an abrasive tomboy of a she-wolf who used words just as sharp as her fangs. The latter was a human boy unsure of his place in the Jungle but wasn't unsure of a bitch when he saw one.

And he meant it both ways. What Sura saw in her, he would never understand.

One exercise involved them staying in a tree over night where they'd have to look out for each other in a fairly vulnerable position. Lala was snide in teasing how she's protect Mowgli from the dark, making the Man-Cub shuffle off to the farther end of a study branch. He decided to rest his eyes and get this over with, laying down in hopes that Lala wouldn't try to push him off.

Though he tried to sleep light just in case...

Lala laid on her front in annoyance that she had to land the Man-Cub and "knew" that he'd drag her down with his ineptitude somehow. She was so caught up in her self-centeredness that a python slithering down from the upper branches eluded her until it hissed outloud.

"Ssssay now," Kaa hissed with a giggle, coming up boldly to Lala's face. "What've we here?"

Lala bolted up in alert but found the otherwise imposing python disarming when he giggled so... whisically. "Why, it'sssss a pup," he snickered with a coo. "An adorable female pup." He played around with her by moving his head to her left and to her right quickly. "A lossssst little girl like you musssst be sssso sssscared."

"Little girl" was what ticked off Lala the most as the "threat" just became irritating. "Oh, shut up and leave me alone," she snarled while swiped her paw at the willy serpent, barely missing. Part of her was tempted to blow steam and feed on reptile meat for a midnight snack. A very big part of her.

"Tempesssstuoussss, aren't we?" Kaa snickered. "Somebody oughta teach you mannersssss, young lady..."

"Mmmm, love to but... Mom'd kill me..." Mowgli muttered in his half sleepy state. "Just... go to sleep, Lala..." He yawned deeply. "Give me that much at least..."

Kaa smirked at the suggestion. "Yessss, that'd be a good sssstart..." he hissed before looking back at Lala. "Ssssleep, little girl."

Lala glared daggers at Kaa at first before seeing his glowing eyes go all yellow, then blue, then green before repeating in quick succession. The phenomenon of these radiant rings made her face soften up in a more bewildered expression. However, it went more slackjawed when her eyes widenned and began to mirror Kaa's eyes beat for beat.

Lala tried to say something in protest but she could barely make a single thought. Something about the python's eyes was relaxing her, watering down her Jungle instincts by the second. She knew that she could take him and bite down on his throat but... didn't wanna. Worst was when she found herself unable to break eye contact.

The glow had a hypnotic hold upon her mind. Lala knew that she was in danger on some level but also... liked this? As in, she didn't seem to care if she'd be swallowed alive. She also didn't care about the scaly tail coiling around from her waist and up her torso.

"Arrogant tomboy..." Kaa taunted, his whismical expression turning into a sneer. "You could've called for help yet choosssse to get in over your head." He slithered his tail up higher and looped around her neck slowly. "You act ssssso haughty but in the end, you're but a lossssst little girl crying out for Daddy."

"URK!" Lala choked out when the tail's tip squeezed her throat slowly yet tightly.

"Better to die than let Mowgli ssssave you yet again," Kaa taunted, reading her feeling via his hypnosis.

Between the chokehold silencing her and the eyes putting her under, Lala knew that all Mowgli had to do was just happen to wake up and attack from behind. It was that or Kaa would swallow her alive at any moment now if he got bored of strangling her. It wounded her pride to accept help like this but...

A sort of Odd Couple scenario I wish they did in Jungle Book Shonen Mowgli which shows Lala slowly coming around to Mowgli as a fellow pack member.

For those not in the know, this is based on the Italian-Japanese Anime co-production that adapts the Jungle Book into a fifty-two episode storyline with quite a few expansions upon Rudyard Kipling's works. Plus, Mowgli's a rare protagonist that knows to kill when need be.

Lala is a particular addition as a wolf pack member who's a bitch but the type that's trying too hard to compensate for something and sees Mowgli as an easy target to boost her ego. Basically, her father left to make his own pack without her and that weights on her. Pauline Little brings her brattiness to life very well.
