In an ongoing effort to master balancing while doing contortion, Elise started out working through simple yoga asanas. Her first being the Sphinx pose. Within 3 months of starting, she was able to move into the bow pose with fluency, and eventually the chest stand. Her training went up a notch when she then decided to do handstand variations of the chest stand backbend. With each iteration she was able to lift her feet from the ground higher and higher from her handstand backbend. 3 months later, she took on the challenge of performing a Marinelli Bend. Her training was difficult and not without failure. But from there, she's been able to hold a marinelli bend for longer and longer..2 mins..30 mins...2 hours...and now the fruition of training, a record 3 days. While a lot of the pose is attributed to an immense core, neck & mouth strength, Elise takes a different approach now. She has instead strengthened the muscles of her lips and jaw, where she can now teeter on edges and tips, with just the pressure of her lips for extended periods of time. She's able to bend metal spoons and instruments by placing them between her lips and smiling.

And shown here, the fruits of her labor: Presenting "The Elise Marinelli Bend™". A mastery of both balance and strength, Elise now purposefully asks audiences & students to tip and unbalance her from this pose, so she can right herself back into a pose of pure poise, and simply though the careful coordination of her bodybending, and inflection of the muscles of her oh so tender lips.
