Description
Another new OC! This is Jem (his full name is James, but he hates when people use it) and he is "The Snowy Prince". He lives in Highcalere Castle, in the snowy mountains, and is the only one who lives there after his family was killed. I'm still working on the details of the story xD The castle has been there for centuries and has always been protected by a species of small but fierce snow dragons that his family has always raised. They're his only company now that he lives there alone, until the Group of Wyth arrives.

Oooh, I see the pencils are back! This character looks so cool! I love his clothing, specially his cloak, and I feel like his expression and pose tell a great deal about him. But man, what I love the most about him is his backstory, it looks so interesting!!

The pencils are indeed back! (mostly because I have to buy a new marker for the light skin color xD) And thank you!! Yeah, I've only drawn him once, but I think he's definitely going to be one of my favorite and most dear characters for sure

Kyaaa, so excited!! Hhmmm, I guess it all depends on how much time he's alone and how much would he lose his mind during that time. You know, like, different people have different reactions, so what would be his? Would he go totally insane? Or would he start acting more "odd" but ultimately still himself and all that? Could he recover or not? You know, that kind of thing. It seems to me that if the dragons are inteligent beings (even if they can't reason the same way humans do) and he can interact with them as to have "someone close" the toll would not be as great as if he was truly alone (I'm thinking about Denzel and his wolves now. They're family to her and she treats them as such. Like, she's sure strange and it would be hell to her to adapt to a normal life, but she's pretty much sane). There's also the possibility of him losing his mind even if there's people around. Anyway, I don't really know There are a lot of things to consider, starting with the character's psyche. I don't know anything about this character or how his mind works, so of course it's your place to think about it and take a decision. Whatever decision you take in the end, I'm sure it will be the one that works best with the story

True, true. I'm not 100% sure about his story yet, I'm still working on it since he's a pretty new character of mine (but one of my absolute favorites already). It may be that the interactions he gets from his pet dragons is enough, which is what I was going for with the solitary of the castle.

I really like the textures, the gradations for the hair, the small decorative additions behind.
I like too the size of the features that varies depending on whether it is hair or the outline of the character.
And the way you inspire me with your story... (For true ! As an ancient story teller for roleplaying games ! )

(Just a little question: How do you make the gradients for the skin - and the hair too - ? I'd like to show this to my little daughters. Thank you.)

Thank you so much! As for the gradients, I did the skin with art markers and did the light color first, then added the darker colors and blended them with the light marker. For the hair, I started by doing a light shade with the lighter teal all over, leaving the white highlight (since I wanted his hair to be a light color), then did a darker layer of the same teal at the bottoms, then a final layer of a darker color teal to finish it. I hope this helped, I'm not great at explaining my processes, but let me know if you have any other questions!
