At the end of Kong: Skull Island (2017) we get a brief appearance of Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah, setting up the events of Godzilla 2: King of The Monsters (2019)(and it even starred Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things)
5 years after Godzilla 2014 Goji returns yet again along with bringing back other classic monsters; Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah. the film reenacts Ghidorah The Three-Headed Monster (1964) in this film Godzilla unites with Mothra and Rodan to stop Ghidorah to save the Earth and reclaim his rightful name as King of The Monsters.
we even get introduced to 3 new monsters; Scylla, Behemoth, and Methuselah, even MUTO from Godzilla 14 is back
the film also featured a ton of easter eggs and references to the classic films such as:
The Godzilla Theme
The Mothra Theme
The Oxygen Destroyer
Monster Zero
a cameo of The Shobijan
Yamata no Orochi as one of the hidden titans
Burning Godzilla
and including a cover of Blue Oyster Cult's "Go Go Godzilla" song
and the ending was so Lion King when all of the monsters bowed to their true king of all monsters himself Gojira!
even Kong can be seen briefly in parts of the film as if it were foreshadowing what's yet to come as by the next film their long waited rematch was just beginning...
