Interesting concept. Showing a fragmented reflection - somehow it makes me think that it's like forming a self-image from what people tell you about yourself. It will be like putting small pieces together, never showing the whole, just suggesting it.Β

Absolutely (and don't forget about false memories they can put into your head), but I think even your self-image/concept is fragmented, don't you? What you see when you look into a mirror is not you, it's an image and it's mirrored. I think very few, if any people can be so honest about and with themselves, that their self-mage isn't in some way skewed.

Your own self-image is absolutely skewed by definition. Simply because you're disturbing yourself when performing a measurement. It's like measuring a quantum particle. So you have to rely on others in some way to make that self-image. Yes, you do have some extra information your surrounding doesn't have, since you know all of your secrets and experiences. And your self-analysis might dig up some motives no psychologists will ever let resurface. But everything will be anyway distorted, because you're too close to yourself to be able to make decent conclusions.
I actually made a journal a very long time ago about that problem:Β Friends and mirrors
