I figured before I even THINK about starting my first round for #Miss-OC-Pageant , I had better introduce the sizely crew that Harlowe will have rooting for her! As mentioned in her audition, she is currently under the care of a hodge-podge group of rebels, so what better time to introduce them (as well as the wonderful folks who lent them to me) than now, before stuff really gets under way?IN ORDER OF APPEARANCE:
Harlowe Henderson - well, you already know her, probably.

Captain Ide Arken
"Almost Doctor" Logan Grey (kindly loaned to me by ~chainSMA !)
Eleanor Solomon (also lovingly loaned by ~chainSMA !)
Lorna Garcia-Satou
Sergeant Campbell Chernobyl (impeccably loaned by fellow pageant contestant, *Kayzig !)
Now, if you excuse me, I have an EVENING GOWN to design. This is the part where you might think that I throw my mink scarf over my shoulder and haughtily slink off, but the truth is I just switch into my Photoshop window.

To be honest, I was thinking of doing a combination comic strip / illustration. You know, something to give a little story, then the BIG REVEAL, so to speak! I really like that we can do the comic format, since I think for you and I both that it is our first love! I am SUPER STOKED to see whatever you come up with for both your girls, I am sure whether you do comic, or illustration, or ANYTHING it will be cool.

Yeah, for me, deadline has a lot to do with it! I figure I'll take the time while I've got it, haha. If I make it through, and there is less time later or I'm bogged up with other things I may switch to single illustration, too.

Eleanor always has the classiest, coolest clothes... hey, she's got a reputation to upkeep! And Lorna is my lil' lady, I will always love her and her loud ways, haha. She was actually a one-time Miss OC contestant, so I'm sure she'll have lots of wisdom stuff to impart to young Harlowe!

Ahahaha, yeah, that would have been a bit awkward! We had talked about her entering some different people since she wasn't sure how Cam would handle a pageant, and I told *Kayzig if she didn't keep Campbell in the active competition, she'd still wind up in Harlowe's crew. c: THE REST IS HISTORY, as they say, even if... very RECENT history.

For me, this competition is also largely about introducing Harlowe and helping get to know her, so I guess that's why I feel REALLY motivated to getting stuff made and putting it out there, aha. I'd be doin' it anyway, you know what I mean? Getting to develop the group that comes with her is icing on the cake!
Also, any time there is a good excuse for me to work with lots and lots of pink and purple is a time I shall not waste.

I hear you. What makes the pageant so interesting is that emphasis on characterization and personality rather than, say, pure artistic skill. It's really creating some fun opportunities.
I am so ready to start on round one if only it wasn't so hot and sweaty in friggin' ALASKA.
