Luonne ja muuta sellaista: Nere on luenteeltaan hieman ujohko ja ystävällinen herrasmies. Kaupiaana hänen arka luonne on pienehkö ongelma, koska asiakkaidensa palvelu hermostuttaa kovasti. Hän siis omistaa oman hattuliikkeen, jossa myydään päähineitä, hanskoja, huiveja ja jne. Sepi työskentelee usein siellä. Neren liike vaan ei ole kovin suosioissa Kaukotulvalassa, koska siellä asukkaat eivät hirveämmin käytä vaatteita. Sepi työskenteleekin kirjastossa tuon liikkeen lisäksi, koska muuten palkka olisi liian kehno elämiseen.
Nere asustelee liikkeessään, vaikka siellä ei olekkaan mitkään parhaimmat olosuhteet, mutta tulee ainakin toimeen. Nere onkin hyvin pihi rahan suhteen ja hyvä vain, sillä ylimääräiset ostokset eivät tulisi kuuloonkaan.

Nere's shop isn't very popular in Kaukotulvala , because the town residents don't wear clothes. That's why Sepi is at work in the library too that she gets enough money for living.
Nere lives in his shop even tough there aren't very luxury conditions to live but at least he gets along in there. Nere is miserly with the money but it's only good thing because shopping is out of the question.
